Details of Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana UP

Introduction of Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana: A Brief Insight

A government school teacher earns a modest salary and works hard every day to educate children. But when a serious illness strikes, the cost of treatment at a private hospital can wipe out months of savings in a matter of days. To protect teachers and their families from this financial burden, the Basic Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, launched the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana.

The Additional Chief Secretary, Basic Education Department, issued the official order on 05 February 2026. The scheme runs through SACHIS (State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services) under the Ayushman Bharat framework. Every eligible teacher and staff member receives a Cashless Health Card, which they can use at any government hospital or SACHIS-empanelled private hospital across Uttar Pradesh.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries and their dependent family members get cashless treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year at empanelled private hospitals. At government hospitals, there is no limit on treatment cost. The annual premium of Rs. 3,000 per employee is paid entirely by the Basic Education Department. Teachers do not pay anything from their own pocket.

The scheme covers teachers, Shiksha Mitras, Anudeshaks, Special educators (CWSN), wardens of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and even cooks working under Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana in BSP schools. All their dependent family members are also covered under the same Health Card. Beneficiaries already covered under PM-JAY or Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan are not eligible for dual benefit.

To apply, visit cmtcts.upsdc.gov.in, click on “Apply for Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Card”, verify your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, fill in your service and personal details, add dependents, upload documents, and submit. E-KYC completion is mandatory after submission for the Health Card to be issued.

Teachers who are not covered under this scheme or who want to know about the broader health coverage available to all Uttar Pradesh government employees can explore the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Rajya Karmchari Cashless Chikitsa Yojana, which provides cashless treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year to all serving and retired UP government employees and their dependents. Families of teachers who want to know about the central government’s flagship health coverage scheme can also check Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which provides health cover of up to Rs. 5 lakh per year to eligible poor and vulnerable families across India.

How to Use Your Cashless Health Card at the Hospital

Getting the Cashless Health Card is only the first step. Knowing how to use it correctly at the hospital is equally important, especially during a medical emergency. Follow these steps when you visit a government hospital or an empanelled private hospital for cashless treatment:

Step 1: Before visiting any private hospital, confirm that the hospital is empanelled under SACHIS. You can check the full list of empanelled hospitals at hem.nha.gov.in/search by entering your district or pin code. At any government hospital, your Health Card is accepted directly without any empanelment check.

Step 2: Carry your printed Cashless Health Card and your Aadhaar card when you go to the hospital. Both documents are required for identity verification at the hospital counter.

Step 3: At the hospital, go to the Ayushman Bharat or SACHIS help desk counter. Show your Cashless Health Card and Aadhaar card to the staff. The hospital staff will verify your identity and confirm your eligibility on the SACHIS system.

Step 4: Once your identity is verified, the hospital will admit you under the cashless treatment facility. You will not need to pay any amount at the time of admission for covered treatments.

Step 5: After treatment and discharge, the hospital directly claims the treatment cost from SACHIS. You do not need to pay and then seek reimbursement. The entire process is cashless from admission to discharge.

Important: Your Cashless Health Card covers IPD (Indoor Patient Department) treatment only at empanelled private hospitals. OPD (Outpatient Department) treatment at private hospitals is not covered under this scheme. At government hospitals, both IPD and OPD facilities are available without any cost limit.
