Introduction of Uttar Pradesh Baba Saheb Ambedkar Rojgar Protsahan Yojana: A Brief Insight
In many rural areas, people still struggle to find stable employment and often move to cities in search of work. This not only creates financial pressure but also affects family stability. To solve this problem and promote self-employment at the village level, the government introduced a dedicated support scheme.
The Baba Saheb Ambedkar Rojgar Protsahan Yojana was launched by the Uttar Pradesh Government on 14 November 2019. The scheme was earlier known as “Ambedkar Vishesh Rojgar Yojana”. The main objective of this scheme is to create sustainable employment opportunities in rural areas and help individuals become financially independent.
Rural Development Department of the UP Government is the implementing department of this scheme.
Under this scheme, the government provides subsidised loans ranging from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh so that applicants can start their own business or service-based work. In addition to this, beneficiaries receive financial support in the form of a subsidy, skill training, and a one-year moratorium period before loan repayment begins.
This scheme is available for rural residents of Uttar Pradesh between the ages of 18 to 65 years whose annual family income does not exceed Rs. 2 lakh. People from all categories can apply, but priority is given to SC, ST, widows, and abandoned women.
The application process is simple and completely offline. Interested applicants need to collect the form from the Block Development Officer’s office or the District Rural Development Office, submit it with the required documents, and go through a selection and interview process before receiving the loan.
