Introduction of West Bengal Farmer Old Age Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight
- West Bengal Government started lots of welfare schemes for the benefit of people.
- One of the major vulnerable sections whose income is not consistent is farmers.
- So to secure the income of farmers at the time of their old age, the Government introduced a separate Old Age Pension Scheme for them.
- The main aim behind starting this scheme is to give social security support to old-age farmers and to strengthen them financially.
- Agriculture Department of the West Bengal Government is the implementing department of this scheme.
- Monthly Financial Assistance to Old Age Farmers will be provided by the Government under the Farmers’ Old Age Pension Scheme.
- All Eligible Farmers will get Rs. 1,000/- per Month under the West Bengal Farmers’ Old Age Pension Scheme.
- Every Farmer aged 60 Years or More than 60 Years can apply for a monthly old-age pension under this scheme.
- However, the Age limit for Disabled Farmers is 55 Years or More than 55 Years.

- Pension Amount will be directly disbursed in the Aadhar-linked bank account of the beneficiary farmer.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,000/- to Old Age Farmers under this scheme will only be provided if beneficiary farmers fulfil the following eligibility criteria set by the West Bengal Government :-
- The beneficiary should be a Farmer.
- Beneficiary Farmers should be Permanent Residents of West Bengal or residing in West Bengal for a minimum of 10 years.
- A farmer should not have more than 2 acres of Agricultural Land.
- Beneficiary Farmer’s Age should be 60 Years or More than 60 Years.
- Age Limit for Disabled Farmers is 55 Years or More.
- Beneficiaries of other Pension schemes are Not Eligible to apply.

- Eligible Farmers will have to attach the documents mentioned below with the application form at the time of applying for the monthly pension under the Farmers Old Age Pension Scheme of the Government of West Bengal :-
- Residence Proof of West Bengal.
- Farmer Aadhar Card.
- Voter ID Card.
- 1 Photograph.
- PM Kisan ID. (If Available)
- Details of Agricultural Land.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Government of West Bengal provides an easy way to apply for a monthly pension under the Farmers Old Age Pension Scheme.
- Only offline mode is available to apply; there is no Official Website or Online Application Form of the Farmer Old Age Pension Scheme of West Bengal is available right now.
- Old Age Farmers of West Bengal can collect the Pension Scheme Application Form from Block Development Offices or Sub Divisional Officers’ Office or from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Office.
- Application Form of this scheme will be distributed free of cost among eligible farmers.
- Fill in the received Application Form of Farmer Old Age Pension Scheme and all the documents with it.
- Review the filled details and Submit the Application Form and Documents in the same office of BDO/ SDO/ KMC.
- Preliminary scrutiny of the received Application Form will be done by the Block Development Officer or Sub Divisional Officer or Officials of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
- The list of all eligible farmer beneficiaries will then be forwarded to the Office of the District Collector for further approval.
- District Collector’s Office will then verify the details and forward them to the Department of Agriculture for sanction and disbursement of the pension amount.
- Department of Agriculture will sanction the pension for old-age farmers and disburse the pension amount directly in the bank account of the beneficiary.
