Introduction of West Bengal Jai Johar Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • In the year 2020, the West Bengal Government started a new social security pension scheme named “Jai Bangla Scheme”.
  • It is a One Umbrella Scheme for pensions in which all pension schemes of West Bengal come under the ambit of one name.
  • Taposili Bandhu Scheme was started to provide social security pension to the Old Age Schedule Caste Community People.
  • For Schedule Tribe Old Age People, the Government started the “Jai Johar Scheme”.
  • It was launched on 1st of April 2020.
  • The main aim behind starting this scheme is to provide social security cover to old-age people belonging to the Scheduled Tribe Community.
  • West Bengal Government’s Tribal Welfare Department is the implementing department of this scheme.
  • The other common names of this scheme are “Jai Johar Prakalpa” or “West Bengal Monthly Pension Scheme for Schedule Tribe People”.
  • Government of West Bengal will provide monthly financial assistance as a pension to all eligible old-age people of the scheduled tribe community under the Jai Johar Scheme.
  • Rs. 1,000/- monthly pension under the Jai Johar Scheme of the West Bengal Government will be provided to all selected beneficiaries.
  • This pension scheme is specifically for the benefit of the Scheduled Tribe Community, so only people belonging to Scheduled Tribe community are eligible to apply for pension under this scheme.
  • Beneficiaries 60 Years of Age or More than 60 Years can apply for financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/- as a monthly pension under this scheme.
  • Application Form can be taken free of cost from the BDO or SDO or the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Office.
  • Government of West Bengal has not provided the facility to apply for pension through the Online Application Form of Jai Johar Scheme.
  • Also there is no Official Website of Jai Johar Scheme available.
  • But, Beneficiaries can check their Application Status of Jai Johar Scheme Online through Duare Sarkar Portal.
  • In case of any help or information needed about the Jai Johar Scheme, Beneficiaries can contact their District Welfare Officer or BDO or SDO or Municipal Corporation Office.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • The government of West Bengal will provide the following benefits to all eligible beneficiaries under its Jai Johar Scheme :-
    • Monthly Financial Assistance as a Pension will be provided to Old Age ST Beneficiaries.
    • Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per Month will be provided.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month will be provided to those beneficiary applicants who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility conditions of Jai Johar Scheme of the West Bengal Government :-
    • West Bengal State Permanent Residents are only Eligible to apply.
    • Beneficiary Caste should be the Scheduled Tribe. (ST)
    • Age of the Beneficiary should be 60 Years or More than 60 Years.
    • The beneficiary should not receive benefits from any other pension scheme.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • Beneficiary Applicant will have to attach the following documents with Jai Johar Scheme Application Form at the time of applying for pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month :-
    • Any West Bengal Residence Proof.
    • Aadhar Card of Beneficiary.
    • Family Digital Ration Card.
    • 1 Photograph Passport Size.
    • ST Caste Certificate.
    • Voter ID Card.
    • Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.
    • Mobile Number or Email.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Jai Johar Scheme Application Form can be obtained free of cost from the Block Development Officer’s Office in Rural Areas, from the Sub Divisional Officer Office in Municipal Corporation Area and from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Office.
  • Take the Application Form and fill in all the required details without making any mistakes.
  • Attach residence proof, age proof, Aadhar card and other relevant documents with the Application Form.
  • Verify all the filled details and submit the application form with all documents in the same BDO or SDO or Municipal Corporation Office.
  • Received Application Forms and Documents will be primarily verified by BDO/ SDO or Officials of the Municipal Corporation Office.
  • Selected Beneficiary Details will then feed on the Jai Bangla Portal and be forwarded to the District Magistrate for further approval.
  • District Magistrate Office will then verify the details again and forward the application forms of beneficiaries selected for a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- under Jai Johar Scheme to the Tribal Development Department for further sanction.
  • Tribal Development Department will sanction the pension and transfer it in the beneficiary’s bank account through DBT mode.
  • After applying for a pension, the beneficiary can also check the Application Status of Jai Johar Scheme by visiting Duare Sarkar Portal.
