Introduction of Manabik Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Disabled People is the most vulnerable people of the society having no social security cover.
- They barely manage their daily need expenses and in most of the cases they have to depend on others financially.
- Keeping these thing in mind, Government of West Bengal started new pension scheme for the welfare of disabled people of State.
- The name of the scheme is “Manabik Pension Scheme” which is known by some other names also which are “Manabik Pension Prakalpa” or “Disability Pension Scheme of West Bengal”.
- The launch date of this scheme is 1st of April 2018.
- Earlier this scheme was run under the name of “West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme”.
- But in the year 2018, West Bengal Government started Manabik Pension Scheme and merge the old disability pension scheme with it.
- Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Department of West Bengal is the implementing department of this scheme.
- Monthly Financial Assistance as pension will be provided to all eligible disabled people under Manabik Pension Scheme of West Bengal Government.
- Disabled Peoples will get Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month under this scheme for their day care expenses.
- All disabled people having a disability of 40% or more are eligible to get disablity pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month under Manabik Pension Scheme.
- West Bengal permanent residents or people residing in west bengal for more than 10 years are eligible to apply for pension.
- Apart from that if the families annual income of beneficiary is more than Rs. 1 Lakh in a year then he/ she are also not eligible to apply under Manabik Pension Scheme.
- Government of West Bengal started one umbrella scheme for all the pension schemes in the year 2020 named “Jai Bangla Scheme”.
- Manabik Pension Scheme with other schemes like “Taposili Bandhu Scheme” and “Jai Johar Scheme” and many others comes under the purview of Jai Bangla Scheme.
- Beneficiary Disabled Person can get Manabik Pension Scheme Application Form from BDO/ SDO/ Executive Officer of Panchayat Samity/ Municipal Corporation Office free of cost.
- In case of any information or help needed about Manabik Pension Scheme, beneficiary can contact their areas District Welfare Office.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of West Bengal will provide the following benefits to disabled people of State under its Manabik Pension Scheme :-
- Monthly Financial Assistance as Pension to Disabled People.
- Rs. 1,000/- per Month Pension will be Provided under Manabik Pension Scheme.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Disability Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month will only be provided to those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility conditions of Manabik Pension Scheme :-
- Permanent Resident of West Bengal or Resident of West Bengal for 10 Years are Eligible to Apply.
- The Yearly Income of Beneficiary Family should be less than1 Lakh.
- Disability of a Beneficiary should be more than 40%.
- Beneficiary of other Pension Scheme are not Eligible to Apply.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Documents that are to be attached with the Application Form of Manabik Pension Scheme are mentioned below :-
- Residence Proof of West Bengal.
- Families Digital Ration Card.
- Beneficiary Aadhar Card.
- Beneficiary Photograph.
- Certificate of Disability.
- Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.
- Email or Mobile Number.
How Beneficiaries Can Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Disability Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month under Manabik Pension Scheme can be applied through Offline Application Form.
- Application Form of Manabik Pension Scheme can be obtained without any cost from BDO Office (Block Development Officer), from Executive Officer Office in Panchayat Samiti in Rural Areas.
- In Urban Areas/ Municipal Areas, Manabik Pension Scheme Application Form can be collected from SDO Office (Sub Divisional Officer) or from Kolkata Municipal Corporation Office.
- Apart from all the above mentioned offices, Eligible Beneficiaries of Manabik Pension Scheme can also take Application Form from Controller of Vagrancy Office situated at Purta Bhawan, Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata.
- Fill the Application Form carefully, attach all the mandatory documents and submit the application form in the same office from where it was collected by beneficiary.
- BDO/ SDO/ Executive Officer or Officials of Municipal Corporation primarily scrutinize the received application forms and documents.
- Data of Beneficiaries found to be eligible and selected for pension under Manabik Pension Scheme will be filled on Jai Bangla Portal and forwarded to the District Collector Office for further approval.
- The office of the District Collector will then further approve the applications and forward it to department for sanction and disbursement of pension.
- Concerned Department will then sanction the pension applications and transfer the amount of pension of Rs. 1,000/- as promised under Manabik Pension Scheme.
- Beneficiaries can also check Manabik Pension Scheme Application Status through their Mobile Number on Duare Sarkar Portal.
