West Bengal Widow Pension Scheme

The Widow Pension Scheme of the West Bengal Government was started in the year 2010. The objective of this scheme is to support those widows of West Bengal financially who have lost their husbands so that they cannot depend on anyone in terms of money. Introduction of West Bengal Widow Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Widow Pension Scheme is the major social welfare scheme of the Government of West Bengal.
• It was started in the year 2010.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide financial assistance to widows/ Girls of West Bengal whose lives have been disrupted after the death of a husband.
• West Bengal Government’s Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare is the responsible department of the Widow Pension Scheme.
• This scheme is also called “West Bengal Widow Financial Assistance Scheme” or “West Bengal Widow Monthly Pension Scheme”.
• Under the Widow Pension Scheme, the Government of West Bengal will provide a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- to eligible widows/ Girls of the State.
• Widow Women/ Girls can use this monthly financial assistance to take care of their daycare expenses.
• Widow Women/ Girls residing in West Bengal permanently or for a minimum period of 10 Years are eligible to apply for Widow Pension.
• Monthly Income of Widow Women/ Girls should not be more than Rs. 1,000/- per Month.
• Eligible Beneficiary can apply for the Widow Pension Scheme by filling out the Offline Application Form of Widow Pension Scheme.
• There is no Online Application for the West Bengal Widow Pension Scheme is available.
• Applicants can also check the Status of Widow Pension Scheme Application by visiting the West Bengal Pension Scheme Portal.
• Eligible Applicant list of West Bengal Widow Pension will be available after verification at the office of the Block Development Officer.
• Applicant can submit their Grievance of West Bengal Widow Pension Scheme (if any) on the West Bengal Pension Scheme Portal.
• Widow Pension Scheme will automatically convert into the Old Age Pension Scheme once the beneficiaries reach the age of 60 years.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The following financial assistance as a monthly pension will be provided to Eligible widows/ Girls of West Bengal under the Widow Pension Scheme :-
  

  Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand Rupees Only) per Month.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility is required to avail the benefit of a monthly pension under the West Bengal Government’s Widow Pension Scheme:-
  

  Applicant Should be a Permanent Resident of West Bengal. OR Applicant Should be Residing in West Bengal for 10 Years. The Monthly Income of the Widow Should be below Rs. 1,000/- per Month. Applicant should not be a recipient of any other Government Financial Assistance. She is in our own and not maintained by anyone in relation.

Documents Required to be Attached

• The following documents will be required to avail the benefit of monthly financial assistance as a monthly pension under the Government of West Bengal’s Widow Pension Scheme:-
  

  Any One Identity Proof of Widow Applicant :- Voter Identity Card. PAN Card. Passport. Ration Card. Death Certificate of a Deceased Husband. Any Identity Proof of Deceased Husband. Certificate of Non-Marriage. Aadhar Card of Applicant. Annual Income Certificate of Widow’s Family.. Bank Account Details.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Widow Beneficiaries can apply for the Widow Pension by filling the Application Form of Widow Pension Scheme.
• Application Form of Widow Pension Scheme is available free of cost at any of the following offices :-
  • Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer. (In Urban Area).
  • Office of the Block Development Officer or Panchayat Samiti. (In Rural Area).
  • Office of the Controller of Vagrancy. (In the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Area).
• Collect the Application Form from the office and fill it carefully and correctly.
• Attach all the required documents to the application form.
• Submit the Application Form of the Widow Pension Scheme along with all the documents in the same office from where it was collected.
• Application Form and Documents will be scrutinized by the Block Development Officer or Sub Divisional Officer.
• After initial scrutiny, the application of the widow pension scheme will be forwarded to the office of the District Magistrate for final approval.
• After final approval from the District Magistrate Office, the monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month under the West Bengal Government’s Widow Pension Scheme will be transferred every month to the given bank account of the widow beneficiary.
• Widow Beneficiaries can also check the Status of their Widow Pension Application by entering the Beneficiary ID, Aadhaar Card Number or Registered Mobile Number on West Bengal Pension Scheme Official Website.
