Introduction of West Bengal Yuvasree Scheme: A Brief Insight
- West Bengal Government launched the prominent unemployment assistance scheme for the youth of the state in the year 2013.
- The initial name of the unemployment scheme of the West Bengal Government is “Yuva Utsaha Prakalpa”.
- But later it was renamed to “Yuvasree Scheme” in the same year.
- The main objective of the government behind starting the Yuvashree Scheme in the state is to support the job seekers financially so that they can increase their level of skills through skill training programs and set up their own self-employment ventures.
- Government of West Bengal’s Directorate of Employment under the Department of Labour is the implementing agency of this scheme.
- Monthly Unemployment Assistance will be provided by the West Bengal Government to all eligible unemployed job seekers under the Yuvasree Prakalpa.
- Rs. 1,500/- per month will be provided to each eligible job seeker who is unemployed and is in the age group of 18 years to 45 years.
- Class 8th or above passed youth who are currently unemployed and are in search of a job are eligible to apply for monthly assistance under Yuvashree Prakalpa of the Government of West Bengal.
- Government expect from all the beneficiaries of the Yuvasree Scheme to develop their level of skill by joining any private or government skill development programme and work towards gaining self employment venture.
- Beneficiaries can register themselves under the Yuvasree Scheme by applying online through the Employment Bank Portal.
- It is mandatory to submit a Certificate of Unemployment in every 6 months to the Office of SDO to continue receiving the unemployment assistance under the Unemployment Assistance Scheme of the West Bengal Government.
- A total of 2,13,114 job seekers have received the benefit of Yuvasree till November 2025.
- Further, the West Bengal Government has also announced “Banglar Yuba-Sathi Scheme”, which is a new financial assistance scheme for the educated unemployed youth of the State who have passed the Madhyamik.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- West Bengal Government under its Yuvasree Scheme will provide the following benefits to all eligible unemployed jobseekers of the State :-
- Monthly Unemployment Assistance will be provided to all eligible job seekers.
- Beneficiaries will receive Rs. 1,500/- per month directly in their bank account.
- Opportunity to upgrade the skill by joining any Skill Development Programmes.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Unemployment Assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per month will be provided by the West Bengal Government to only those applicants who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the Yuvasree Scheme :-
- Permanent Resident of West Bengal is Eligible to Apply.
- The applicant should be Unemployed at the time of Application.
- Applicant Beneficiary should be enrolled as a Job Seeker on the Employment Bank Portal.
- The Age of the applicant should be between 18 years to 45 years.
- The Educational Qualification of the Applicant should be Class 8th Pass or Above.
- Applicant should not have availed the benefit of any financial assistance or loan fromthe State or Central Government for self-employment.
- The Benefit of Unemployment Assistance will be provided to 1 member of a family.
- Applicant will have to submit the Self Declaration every 6 months to the SDO or the Joint Director of Employment.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Job Seekers can apply for monthly unemployment assistance under the Yuvasree Scheme of the West Bengal Government through an online application form.
- Yuvasree Scheme Online Application Form is available on the Employment Bank Portal.
- Applicant will have to visit the Portal and click on “New Enrolment Job Seeker”.
- Fill in the following information in the Job Seeker Registration Form :-
- Personal Information.
- Contact Information.
- Education Details.
- Language.
- Physical Measurement.
- Upload Photo and CV.
- Experience Details.
- Additional Information.
- Click on the submit button after filling in all the aforementioned details.
- Portal will generate a User Name and Password.
- Login with the help of the received User Name and Password.
- Fill in the remaining information in the Online Application Form of the Yuvasree Scheme.
- Upload all the required documents on the portal.
- Preview the application form, check all the filled information and click on the submit button.
- Employment Bank Portal will generate a Job Seeker ID after successful submission of the form.
- The beneficiary can check the Status of their Name under Employment Bank and Yuvasree Scheme with the help of the Jobseeker ID.

- The Central Management Cell will then prepare a list of the first 1 lakh job seekers from the Employment Bank Database.
- Selected Jobseekers will then be informed on their registered Mobile Number or Email.
- Beneficiary Selected for Unemployment Assistance under the Yuvashree Scheme of the West Bengal Government will have to submit the filled-in Application Form along with all the documents to the Office of the Sub Division Officer or the Joint Director of Employment, Kolkata.
- SDO will further verify the received application form and documents and sanction the amount of unemployment assistance as promised under the Yuvasree Scheme.
- Selected Beneficiary will receive the financial assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per month directly in their bank account.
