Introduction of Yudh Samman Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Central Government introduced a proposal to start the Yudh Samman Yojana in the country,
- It is a proposed financial assistance scheme for personnel of the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces who actively took part in the 1965 and 1971 wars with Porkistan.
- The government decided to provide one-time financial assistance of Rs. 15,00,000/- to all eligible officers/ soldiers under Yudh Samman Yojana.
- Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs sent a proposal to all armed forces to submit the details of the eligible soldiers.
- If we talk about the eligibility of Yudh Samman Yojana, Ex-Servicemen Personnel of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, and Central Armed Police Forces who took part in the war with Porkistan in the year 1965 and 1971 and also a recipient of Purvi/ Paschimi Star Medal or Samar Seva Star Medal are eligible to receive Rs. 15 lakh under this scheme.
- Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) include BSF, ITBP, CISF, CRPF, SSB and Assam Rifles.
- Regular Commissioned Officers (RCO), Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCO), Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECO), Personal Below Officer Rank (PBRO) and Civilians are eligible under Yudh Samman Yojana of the Central Government.
- Spouse of an Ex-Serviceman can also apply for financial assistance under Yudh Samman Scheme if the ex-servicemen personnel is no more with us.
- But it is hereby reiterated that Yudh Samman Yojana is just a proposal right now from the side of the Central Government.
- This scheme has not been launched yet, nor is the application process of Yudh Samman Yojana available.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Ex-Servicemen Personnel of Indian Army, Navy, Airforce and Central Armed Police Forces Personnel who actively took part in the wars with Pakistan in the years 1965 and 1971 and received gallantry will get the following benefits under the Central Government’s proposed scheme named Yudh Samman Yojana :-
- The government will provide one-time financial Assistance.
- Eligible Armed Forces Personnel will receive Rs. 15,00,000/- lump sump amount.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Central Government under its proposed Yudh Samman Yojana will provide Rs. 15,00,000/- as one-time assistance to all our heroes who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
- Ex-Servicemen Personnel from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
- Personnel from the CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces)
- Ex-Servicemen Personnel should be an RCO, SSCO, ECO, PBRO.
- Civilians are also eligible to apply if they fulfill the eligibility.
- Personnel should have participated in the war with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971.
- Personnel should have received any one of the Gallantry Awards/ Medal :-
- Purvi/ Paschimi Medal OR
- Samar Seva Start Medal.
- Spouse of a Personnel can apply if the Ex-servicemen is no more.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Applicant beneficiary will have to submit the following expected documents with the Application Form of Yudh Samman Yojana :-
- Ex-Servicemen Identity Card.
- Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
- Recent Color Passport Size Photograph.
- Applicant Aadhaar Card.
- Mobile Number and Email ID.
- Spouse Identity Card. (In Case of Demise of a Soldier)
- Proof of Medal/ Certificate of Samar Seva Medal or Purvi/ Paschimi Medal.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Yudh Samman Yojana is just a proposal of Cthe entral Government right now.
- Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs asked Armed Forces to submit the details of those soldiers who fought 1965 and 1971 wars and recipients of the Samar Seva Star Medal or Purvi/ Paschimi Medal.
- Once the Armed Forces submit the details of the eligible soldiers to the respective ministries, the further process to launch it will start.
- So at present it’s just a proposal so that the application process of Yudh Samman Yojana is not clear.
- It depends on the Central Government to accept the Yudh Samman Yojana Application Form through online mode or through offline mode.
- Beneficiaries will have to little more to get financial assistance of Rs. 15 lakh under the Central Government’s Yudh Samman Yojana.
