Introduction of Rajasthan Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana: A Brief Insight

• Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana is the prominent social welfare scheme of the Rajasthan Government.
• This scheme was launched by the Government in 2007.
• The main objective behind starting this scheme is to break the social barrier and encourage widows of the state to remarry and settle again in their lives.
• Social Justice and Empowerment Department of the Rajasthan Government is the implementing department of this scheme.
• One Time Financial Assistance will be provided by the Rajasthan Government under Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana to those widowed beneficiaries who remarried.
• Each Eligible Widow Beneficiary will receive Rs. 51,000/- financial assistance on her remarriage.
• A remarried widow who is living in Rajasthan for a minimum of 3 years and having an age between 18 years to 50 years is eligible to get financial assistance from the Government under Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana.
• It is mandatory for a women to be eligible for the widow pension scheme to receive benefits.
• Beneficiary Applicant can apply for financial assistance by applying through submitting a Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana Application Form, which can be collected from the Office of the District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer.
• Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana is now merged by the Rajasthan Government with Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana and online application can be filled via SSO Portal.
• The beneficiary can also apply for “Lado Protsahan Yojana” when eligible, in which assistance in the form of a saving bond is provided by the Rajasthan Government at the time of birth of a girl child.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Rajasthan Government will provide the following benefits under its Vidhwa Vivaah Uphar Yojana to those widow applicants who are starting their new life journey by remarriage:-
  • One Time Financial Assistance for marriage will be provided.
  • Beneficiary Widow Applicant will receive Rs. 51,000/- assistance for her remarriage.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Re-Marriage Assistance of Rs. 51,000/- will be provided by the Rajasthan Government to those applicants who fulfil the following eligibility criteria of Vidhwa Vivah Uphaar Yojana :-
  • Permanent Resident Widow of Rajasthan is Eligible to Apply.
  • Widow Applicant should be living in Rajasthan for a minimum of 3 years before her remarriage.
  • The Age of the widow applicant should be between 18 years to 50 years.
  • The beneficiary widow applicant should not have been remarried before.
  • Applicant Widow should be Eligible for to avail the benefit of the Widow Pension Scheme.
  • Both Urban and Rural Area Applicants can apply under this scheme.

• Widow Women Applicant will have to attach the following documents with Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana at the time of applying for marriage assistance :-
  • Proof of Age.
  • Residence Proof of Rajasthan.
  • Proof of Income.
  • Death Certificate of a Husband.
  • Documents related to Widow Pension. (If Applicable)
  • Certified Copy of Re-Marriage Certificate.
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Current Passport Size Photo.
  • Family Member Details.
  • Jan Aadhaar Card or Bhamashah Card.
  • Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Widow Beneficiaries who are getting remarried can apply for marriage assistance under Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana through an Offline Application Form.
• Application Form of Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana of the Rajasthan Government can be obtained free of cost from the Office of the District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer.
• Collect the Application Form from the above-mentioned office and filled all the details correctly.
• Attach all the required documents to the Application Form.
• Submit the duly filled Vidhwa Vivah Uphar Yojana Application Form along with all the documents in the same District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer’s Office.
• The DSJEO will verify the received application form and documents and make a list of eligible beneficiaries.
• The List of eligible applicants will then be forwarded to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department for further verification and approval of the marriage assistance amount.
• After final approval from the department, the amount of assistance of Rs. 51,000/- will be transferred directly into the bank account of beneficiary.
