Introduction of Arunachal Pradesh State Stipend Scheme: A Brief Insight

• State Stipend Scheme is one of the major educational welfare schemes of the Arunachal Pradesh Government.
• This scheme was launched on 1^st April 2012.
• The main objective of the government behind launching this scheme is to encourage students of the state to pursue higher and technical education by providing them with financial assistance for their education.
• Arunachal Pradesh Government’s Directorate of Higher & Technical Education is the implementing department of this scheme.
• Monthly financial assistance as a stipend will be provided to all eligible and selected students under this scheme.
• Each student will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,400/- per month under the State Stipend Scheme.
• Unfortunately, this scheme is not for all category students.
• Students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) Category are only eligible students who can apply for monthly assistance for their educational expenses under the State Stipend Scheme of the Arunachal Pradesh Government.
• Apart from a Rs. 1,400/- per month stipend, the government will also provide an additional financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/- per year as a books grant.
• Monthly Stipend under the State Stipend Scheme will be provided only for 11 months which can be directly provided in their Aadhaar-linked bank account.
• Through this scheme, ST students of Arunachal Pradesh who are currently studying in Under Graduate Course, Diploma Engineering Course, Post Graduation Course to Ph.D course will receive a total financial assistance of Rs.16,400/- (Rs. 1,400/- per month × 11 + Rs. 1,000/-) per year for their educational expenses.
• Only regular course students are eligible to apply, any student who is currently studying through a correspondence course or through distance education is not eligible to apply for monthly assistance under the State Stipend Scheme of the AP Government.
• To provide relief to students, there is no minimum or maximum income limit applicable in this scheme.
• State Stipend Scheme Online Application Form is available on the National Scholarship Portal which is a centralized portal of the Central Government for scholarship schemes.
• 31^st of October 2025 is the last date to enroll under the State Stipend Scheme of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
• Students can also apply for “PM Internship Scheme” in which a 12-month paid internship will be provided to selected students in a prestigious company.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Arunachal Pradesh Government will provide the following benefits to all eligible students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe Category under its State Stipend Scheme :-
  • Per month stipend will be provided to Eligible Students.
  • Each Student will receive Rs. 1,400/- per month for 11 months as a Stipend.
  • Apart from that, additional assistance of Rs. 1,000/- per year will also be provided as a book grant.
  • A total of Rs. 16,400/- per year financial assistance will be received by the students for their studies.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The benefit of a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,400/- per month with an additional book grant of Rs. 1,000/- per year will be provided to only those students of Arunachal Pradesh who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the State Stipend Scheme :-
  • Permanent Resident Student of Arunachal Pradesh is eligible.
  • Beneficiary Student should be belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) Category.
  • Students should be studying in Undergraduate, Diploma Engineering to PhD courses are eligible for a monthly stipend.
  • Maintaining 75% Attendance is mandatory.
  • Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe Students pursuing Medical and Para Medical Courses are not Eligible to apply.
  • Students of Correspondence Course or Distance Education are not eligible to receive a stipend under this scheme.
  • There is no minimum or maximum income limit applicable.

Educational Courses Eligible for Stipend

• Scheduled Tribe Students of Arunachal Pradesh who are pursuing/ studying in any one of the below-mentioned educational courses are eligible to apply for a monthly stipend and book grant under the State Stipend Scheme :-

Documents Required to be Attached

• The following documents will be required to be uploaded on the National Scholarship Portal at the time of applying for the monthly stipend and yearly book grant under the State Stipend Scheme of the Arunachal Pradesh Government :-
  • Students’ Aadhaar Card.
  • Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe Certificate.
  • Last Examination Passed Marksheet.
  • Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
  • College Identity Card of a Student.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Students of Arunachal Pradesh who belong to the Scheduled Tribe Category can apply for financial assistance of Rs. 1,400/- per month as a stipend under the State Stipend Scheme through an Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of the State Stipend Scheme of the Arunachal Pradesh Government is available on the National Scholarship Portal of the Central Government.
• Visit the National Scholarship Portal and click on Students.
  
• Beneficiary Students will have to Register themselves on NSP by generating a 14-digit unique number as One Time Registration.
• Click on Login in the OTR Section.
  
• One Time Registration has 4 steps i.e. Guidelines, Register Mobile Number, eKYC, and Finish.
  
• After filling in all the details and successful verification, the National Scholarship Portal will generate the 14 Digit OTR Number.
• Student will then have to Login on the NSP again with their Aadhaar Number or with their OTR Number.
  
• Select State Name as Arunachal Pradesh and choose State Stipend Scheme.
• Fill the State Stipend Scheme Online Application Form and upload all the required documents on the portal.
• Check all the filled details and click on the submit button to submit the application form.
• Take a printout of the filled online application form for future reference.
• Arunachal Pradesh Government’s State Stipend Scheme submitted online application form will be first verified by the Institute/ College in which the student is currently studying.
• Thereafter, the District Nodal Officer will verify it and forward it to the State Nodal Officer for further verification.
• State Nodal Officer will then forward the verified application to the Ministry Nodal Officer for final verification.
• The last date to apply for the Government of Arunachal Pradesh’s State Stipend Scheme is 31-10-2025.
• Application Status of State Stipend Scheme can be seen by logging in on the National Scholarship Portal.
• Students found to be eligible to receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,400/- per month, along with Rs. 1,000/- per year book grant under the State Stipend Scheme of the Arunachal Pradesh Government, will receive the assistance directly in their bank account.
• Payment Status of the State Stipend Scheme of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh can be checked Public Financial Management System Portal.
