Introduction of Arunachal Pradesh State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Arunachal Pradesh Government had launched another educational welfare scheme in the state in the financial year 2024-2025.
• The name of the scheme is “State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme”.
• The main objective of the Arunachal Pradesh Government behind launching this scheme is to provide essential financial support to meritorious students so that they can take admission in top-tier global institutions.
• Directorate of Higher & Technical Education is the implementing department of the State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme.
• Government of Arunachal Pradesh will now provide financial support to those students of the State who are going to take admission in the top 150 foreign universities for their higher education.
• Any student pursuing an undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, or post-doctoral course from a top 150 QS-ranked foreign university can apply for a financial grant under the State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
• 75% Course fees which include Tuition Fees, Residence Fees, VISA Charges, Airfare in Economy Class, and Personal Health Insurance, will be borne by the Arunachal Pradesh Government under its State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme.
• Apart from the subsidy in course fees, the government will also give a choice to students to opt Rs. 12 lakh per year subsistence allowance or a soft loan of the remaining 25% course fees.
• But this scheme is not for all students of the Arunachal Pradesh State.
• Students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe Category are only eligible to apply for a financial grant under the State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme.
• The government will give preference in selection to those students who pursue their higher education from a foreign university in STEM subjects which are :-
  • Science
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Management
• There is no online application or official website of the State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme of the AP Government is available right now.
• Beneficiary Students will have to take the offline application form from the Office of the Commissioner or Secretary of the Department of Higher and Technical Education, fill it properly and submit it to the same office.
• The application of the Beneficiary Student will be accepted or rejected within 7 days.
• Contact the Nodal Officer of the Department in case any help or assistance is required regarding the Arunachal Pradesh Government’s State Scholarship Scheme for Academic Excellence Scheme.
• Students of the State who are pursuing their higher education from within the state can apply for a monthly scholarship under “State Stipend Scheme”.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Arunachal Pradesh will provide the following benefits under its State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme to those students who secure admission in the top 150 foreign universities to pursue their higher education :-
  

  Financial Support will be provided to Students to pursue Undergraduate, postgraduate, Doctoral and Post Doctoral Courses from Top Foreign Universities. 75% Fees of the Course will be borne by the Arunachal Pradesh Government. Cost borne by the Arunachal Government will cover the following costs :- Tuition Fees. On-Campus Residence Fees. Personal Health Insurance Premium. VISA Charges. Airfare for a one-time two-way Trip in Economy Class. Beneficiary Student can also choose any one of the following benefits of their own choice :- Rs. 12 Lakh per year Subsistence Allowance. A Soft Loan of 25% remaining course fees. The amount of scholarship will be transferred directly to the University.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The benefit of a financial Grant of 75% of course fees to pursue higher education will be provided to only those students who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of the State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme of the Arunachal Pradesh Government :-
  

  Permanent Resident Students of Arunachal Pradesh are Eligible to Apply. Applicant Student should belong to the Scheduled Tribe Category. Beneficiary Student should have a Letter of Acceptance from any one of the Top 150 QS World Ranking Universities. Applicant Student should have secured his/ her admission in any Undergraduate, Post Graduate, Doctoral or Post Doctoral Course. Preference in Selection will be provided to those students who enrolled in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Management Course. (STEM Courses) The Maximum Duration of the Courses should be :- 2 Years :- Post Doctoral Course. 5 Years :- PhD Course. 2 Years :- Post Graduate Course. 4 Years :- Undergraduate Course.

Documents Required to be Attached

• Beneficiary Students will have to submit the following documents as per the requirement with the Application Form of the State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh :-
  • 2 Passport Size Photograph.
  • Marksheet of Class 10th.
  • Passing Certificate of Class 10th.
  • Marksheet of Class 12th.
  • Passing Certificate of Class 12th.
  • Degree/ PhD Certificates.
  • Scheduled Caste Certificate.
  • Student Aadhaar Card.
  • Student Domicile or Permanent Resident Certificate.
  • Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
  • VISA Details. (If Available)
  • International Passport Details.
  • Details of the Yearly Course Fees.
  • Copy of the Admission Receipt. (If Already Admitted)
  • University Identity Card. (If Available)
  • Bond Cum Agreement.
  • Mobile Number.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Students of Arunachal Pradesh who secure their admission in top foreign universities for their higher education can apply for a financial grant under the Government’s State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme through the Application Form.
• State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme Application Form is available in the following offices :-
  • Office of the Commissioner or Secretary of the Department of Higher and Technical Education.
  • Office of the Nodal Officer appointed by the Department.
• Visit any of the above-mentioned offices and collect the Application Form of the Arunachal Pradesh Government’s State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme.
• Fill in all the details correctly in the application form and attach all the required documents.
• It is mandatory to attach the Bond Cum Agreement with the Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme Application Form.
• Submit the Application Form of the Scheme along with all the documents to the same office from where the application form was collected.
• The Officials of the Department of Higher and Technical Education will verify the received application form and documents and approve or reject it within 7 working days from the date of receipt.
• The list of Approved Students found to be eligible for a scholarship will be forwarded to the Indian Mission/ Consulate for further processing.
• The department will directly transfer the amount of scholarship into the bank account of the University as per the currency exchange rate.
• However, the amount of subsistence allowance under the State Scholarship for Academic Allowance Scheme will be transferred to the bank account of the beneficiary student.
