Introduction of Gujarat Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme: A Brief Insight
- While presenting the budget of Gujarat State for the year 2024-2025 on 02-02-2024, Finance Minister Shri Kanubhai Desai announced two major welfare schemes for students.
- The names of the schemes are “Namo Lakshmi Scheme” and “Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme”.
- Then on the 9th of March 2024, the Gujarat Government launched both schemes in the whole of the State.
- Here we will talk in brief about the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme.
- The main aim of this scheme is to encourage students to take a science stream in their higher secondary education so that they can do something different in their field.
- With the implementation of this scheme, Gujarat Government estimated that enrollment of around 2 lakh students to 5 lakh students per year in sthe cience stream will be expected to increase.
- Gujarat Government’s Department of Education is the implementing department of this scheme.
- After passing the class 10th examination, students have 3 different choices to choose subjects at the time of taking admission in class 11th which are Science, Arts, and Commerce.
- So basically, Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme has started to motivate students to take the science stream in class 11th after passing class 10th board examination so that they can explore sectors related to technology and take jobs or be an entrepreneurs in science field.
- Students will get yearly scholarships under this scheme of the Gujarat Government if they take admission in Class 11th in the Science Stream after passing Class 10th examination.
- Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme will promise a total scholarship of Rs. 25,000/- in 2 years i.e. in Class 11th and Class 12th.
- Students of Class 11th will get Rs. 10,000/- in a year and Students of Class 12th will get Rs. 15,000/- in a year.
- Scholarship will be disbursed among students in installments in which Class 11th Students will get Rs. 1,000/- per month for 10 months.
- Whereas, Class 12th Students will also get Rs. 1,000/- per month for 10 months.
- The remaining Rs. 5,000/- will be provided to students after they pass their Class 12th board examination.
- So, every eligible students will get a total scholarship of Rs. 25,000/- in their Class 11th and Class 12th under Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme.
- It is mandatory for students to secure at least 50% marks in Class 10th Board Examination in Science Stream.
- If any student’s family annual income is more than Rs. 6,00,000/- per year then he/she is not eligible to get scholarship under Namo Saraswati Scheme of the Government of Gujarat.
- For smooth implementation of this scheme, a budget of Rs. 400/- crore is allotted by Gujarat government for the year 2024-2025.
- Direct Application from Students is not accepted, respective schools will submit the details of eligible students inthe Education Department.
- There is also confusion going on related to the name of this scheme, this scheme has many popular names and all are of the same scheme which are “Namo Saraswati Yojana” or “Vigyan Sadhna Merit Scholarship Scheme” or “Namo Saraswati Scheme” or “Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana” or “નમો સરસ્વતી વિજ્ઞાન સાધના યોજના”.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of Gujarat will provide the following benefits to all eligible students under its Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana:-
- Yearly Scholarships will be provided to Class 11th and Class 12th Science Stream Students.
- Class 11th Students will get Rs. 10,000/- in a year.
- Class 12th Students will get Rs. 15,000/- in a year.
- Students will get Namo Saraswati Scholarship in installment, the criteria of disbursement are :-
Student’s Class Amount of Scholarship Class 11th - Rs. 1,000/- per Month for 10 Months.
- Total :- Rs. 10,000/-.
Class 12th - Rs. 1,000/- per Month for 10 Months.
- Rs. 5,000/- after Student Passed Class 12th.
- Total :- Rs. 15,000/-.
Total Scholarship Amount Rs. 25,000/- (Class 11th+Class 12th)
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Scholarship of Rs. 10,000/- in Class 11th and Rs. 15,000/- in Class 12th will only be provided to those students who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of Namo Saraswati Vigya Sadhana Scheme :-
- Permanent Resident Students of Gujarat are only Eligible.
- Students should be Currently Studying in any of the below-mentioned Class in Science Stream :-
- Class 11th.
- Class 12th.
- Student should have passed Class 10th Board Examination in Science Stream with 50% or more marks.
- Student should have passed their Class 10th from any of the following schools :-
- Government School.
- Government Aided School.
- Self Supporting School recognized by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board or CBSE.
- Student should have Science Subject in Class 11th and Class 12th.
- Students should have stu
- Students Family Annual Income should not be more than Rs. 6 Lakh per year.
- Scholarship will only provided to Low/ Middle Income Households.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Eligible Students will have to submit the below-mentioned documents in their respective school administration department in order to get benefit of yearly assistance under Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme of Government of Gujarat :-
- School Identity Card.
- Certificate of Income duly signed by Concerned Authority.
- Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
- Mobile Number of Student/ Parents.
- Student’s Aadhaar Card.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Beneficiary Students cannot apply directly for yearly scholarship under Gujarat Government’s Namo Saraswati Vigya Sadhana Scheme.
- Head of School will collect the details from students and register them on the Government Portal with their School Login ID and Password.
- Science Stream Students of Class 11th and Class 12th will have to submit their Aadhaar Card, Income Certificate and Bank Account Details in school administration department.
- School Nodal Officer/ Head of School will make a list of all eligible students and fill their details online.
- Concerned Schools will have verify the details of students thoroughly before submitting it to education department.
- Education Department will then verify the submitted details of students and finalize the list to provide yearly scholarship of Rs. 10,000/- to Class 11th Students and Rs. 15,000/- to Class 12th Students under Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme.
- List of Selected Students will be forwarded to concerned schools which will be pasted on notice board by school administration.
- Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme Beneficiary Students will then receive monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000/- per month in Class 11th and in Class 12th. (Total Rs. 20,000/- for 20 Months)
- Remaining Assistance of Rs. 5,000/- will be provided by government to students after they passed their class 12th board examinations.
- Application Status of Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme can be checked in school by contacting the nodal officer.
- At present, no Website or Portal is available of Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme and no online application process is known.
