Introduction of CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Central Board of Secondary Education started the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme in the year 2006.
- The main objective of the CBSE behind starting this scheme is to promote education among girls and encourage them to pursue higher education.
- CBSE is the sole agency that implemented this scheme in the country.
- Single Girls who are the only children of their parents, will now receive monthly financial assistance as a scholarship under this scheme.
- Central Board of Secondary Education will grant a per-month scholarship of Rs. 1,000/- under the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme to all eligible single daughters.
- The time period of scholarship under this scheme is 2 years.
- Class 10th Board Passed Girl Student with 70% or more marks are eligible to apply for a scholarship under the Central Board of Secondary Education’s Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme.
- It is mandatory for a girl student to take admission in class 11th in any CBSE-affiliated school before applying for a scholarship.
- If the annual family income of any girl student is more than Rs. 8 lakh per year then she is not eligible to apply for the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme of CBSE.
- Beneficiary Girl Student will have to renew their scholarship after passing class 11th and it is must for them to secure a minimum 70% marks in class 11th.
- NRI Students is also eligible to apply for a scholarship under the CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child.
- Online Application is available and eligible girl students can apply online for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme through the Official Website of Central Board of Secondary Education.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will provide the following benefits to all eligible girl students under its Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme :-
- Monthly Scholarship will be provided to Eligible Girl Students.
- Each Beneficiary Girl Student will receive the scholarship of Rs. 1,000/- per month.
- The Amount of Scholarship will be provided for a maximum 2 years.
- Scholarship Amount will be transferred directly in the Bank Account.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Monthly Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,000/- as a scholarship will be provided to only those single girl students who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme :-
- For Fresh Applications :-
- Only Indian Nationals are Eligible.
- Single Girl Child in a Family is Eligible to Apply.
- Girl Student should have secured a minimum of 70% marks in her Class 10th Board Examination of the year 2025.
- Girl Student should be currently studying in Class 11th in CBSE-affiliated schools.
- The annual family income of the Girl Student should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per year.
- The Tuition Fees of the School that the Girl Student in which she is studying should not be more than Rs. 3,000/- per month.
- For NRI Students, the maximum tuition fee limit is Rs. 6,000/- per month.
- For Renewal Applications :-
- Single Girl Child Passed Class 10th in the year 2024.
- Beneficiary Girl Student should have passed Class 11th with 70% marks.
- Girl Student should be currently studying in Class 12th in CBSE-affiliated schools.

- Beneficiary Girl Students will have to upload the following documents on the portal at the time of applying for the monthly scholarship of Rs. 1,000/- per month under the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme of the Central Board of Secondary Education :-
- Girl Student Aadhaar Card.
- Proof of Residence.
- Certificate of Birth.
- Certificate of Caste. (If Applicable)
- Class 10th Marksheet.
- Class 10th Passing Certificate.
- Class 11th Marksheet and Passing Certificate. (For Renewal)
- Recent Color Passport Photo.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Girl Students who are currently studying in CBSE-affiliated schools and who have scored a minimum of 70% marks in their class 10th board examination 2025 can apply online for a per-month scholarship under the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme of the Central Board of Secondary Education.
- CBSE’s Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme Online Application Form is available on the CBSE Official Website.
- Visit the Official Website of CBSE, scroll down a little bit and click on the Scholarship section.
- A new window will appear from which the Beneficiary Girl Student will have to click on “Apply Online”.
- Thereafter, click on SGC-X-Fresh Application.
- It is advised to read the CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship Scheme Guidelines before applying online.
- Now, Enter your Roll Number and Date of Birth.
- CBSE Portal will fetch the details of the Girl Child.
- Fill in all the details in the Online Application Form and upload all the required documents on the portal.
- Preview all the filled information and finally submit the application form.
- Submitted Online Application Form of CBSE Merit Scholarship for Single Girl Child will be verified by the respective school first in which the girl child is studying.
- List of Selected Girl students will then be forwarded to the Central Board of Secondary Education for the disbursement of the scholarship amount of Rs. 1,000/-.
- Beneficiary Girl Students will receive the scholarship amount directly into their bank accounts.
