Introduction of Tamil Nadu Free Laptop Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Tamil Nadu Government had announced to provide free tablet or laptop based on the preference of the students in their budget of the year 2025-2026.
• The name of the scheme is “Free Laptop Scheme” alias “Government of Tamil Nadu Laptop Scheme” and it is officially launched by the Government on 5th of January 2026.

  • All College Students studying in Government Educational Institutions will going to receive free laptops under this scheme.
  • The Cost of a Distributed Laptop will be around Rs. 30,000/-.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Free Laptops under the Government of Tamil Nadu’s Free Laptop Scheme will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the following eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
  

  Permanent Students of Tamil Nadu are Eligible. Students should be studying in any of the following colleges/ university :- Government Arts College/ University. Government Science/ Engineering College/ University. Government Medical College/ University. Government Agricultural University/ College. Government Law College/ University. Government Polytechnic and ITIs. The Beneficiary Student should be in their final year of the educational course.
