Introduction of Tamil Nadu Free Laptop Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Tamil Nadu Government had announced to provide free tablet or laptop based on the preference of the students in their budget of the year 2025-2026.
• The name of the scheme is going to be “Free Laptop Scheme” alias “Government of Tamil Nadu Laptop Scheme”.
• The main objective of government behind launching this free laptop scheme is to bridge the digital divide and equip students with the necessary technological tools.

• Boys and Girls Students who completed their basic education of Class 6th to Class12th from Government schools can apply for “Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme” and “Pudhumai Penn Scheme” respectively in which government is providing scholarship of Rs. 1,000/- per month.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Tamil Nadu Government will provide the following benefits to the college students under its Free Laptop Scheme :-
  • Free of Cost Laptop/ Tablet will be provided.
  • All College Students studying in Government Educational Institutions will going to receive free laptops under this scheme.
  • The Cost of a Distributed Laptop will be around Rs. 30,000/-.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Free Laptops under the Government of Tamil Nadu’s Free Laptop Scheme will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the following eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
  

  Permanent Students of Tamil Nadu are Eligible. Students should be studying in any of the following colleges/ university :- Government Arts College/ University. Government Science/ Engineering College/ University. Government Medical College/ University. Government Agricultural University/ College. The Beneficiary Student should be in their final year of educational course. Remaining Eligibility Conditions will be released after its launch.
