Introduction of Tamil Nadu Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Government of Tamil Nadu started the Pudhumai Penn Scheme, popularly known as Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme for girls students to encourage them to pursue higher education, in which monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000/- will be provided.
- Economically Deprived Boys Students will be left out of this scheme.
- So, during the budget announcement for the year 2024-2025, the Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu announced a new scheme for boys students named “Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme”.
- The main objective of this scheme is to encourage boys students to pursue for higher education, and this scheme will also decrease the school dropouts among boys students.
- Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme was officially launched on 09-08-2024 in the whole of Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Government of Tamil Nadu will provide the monthly educational assistance of Rs. 1,000/- to only those students who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme :-
- Permanent Resident Male Students of Tamil Nadu are Only Eligible to Apply.
- Male Student should have studied his Class 6th to Class 12th in a Tamil Nadu Government or Government Aided School.
- Boys Students who completed their Class 6th to Class 12th Studies from Government Aided Tamil Medium Schools are also Eligible to apply.
- Beneficiary Students of other Scholarship schemes are also Eligible to get Assistance.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Beneficiary Boys Students can apply for monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/- per month as promised by the Tamil Nadu Government under Tamiz Pudhalvan Scheme through Online Application Form.
- Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme Online Application Form is available on the University Management Information System (UMIS) of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
- Visit the Official Portal and Click on Login.
- Beneficiary Boy Student will need the User Name and Password to fill the Application Form of Tamil Pudhalvan Scheme.
- The college/ University will primarily register boys’ students on the UMIS Portal and generate UMIS/ EMIS ID, and provide it to students.
- User Name is EMIS or UMIS ID, which will be obtained from the College/ Institute Nodal Officer in which the boy students are currently studying in a graduation course.
- Password is the Last 4 Digit of the boy student’s registered mobile number and their year of birth.

- Nodal Officer of the College/ University will verify the received application form and documents.
- Eligible and Selected Boys Students List of Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme will be forwarded to the concerned department for disbursement of monthly assistance.
