Tamil Nadu Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme

The Tamil Nadu Government launched the Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme in Madurai on the 18th of February 2024. The objective is to support and encourage to participate and do well in the sports field. Introduction of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme: A Brief Insight

• A Valedictory Function was organised by Sports Department of Tamil Nadu on 1st of February 2024 in Chennai.
• The function was attended by the Honorable Sports Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri. Udhayanidhi Stalin.
• He congratulated the attendees for the recent achievement of Tamil Nadu State in which State secured 2nd place in medal tally after Maharashtra in Khelo India Games.
• This is the best performance of Tamil Nadu State in any National Sports Event.
• While delivering his speech Sh. Udhayanidhi Stalin gave a gift to sports players students of Tamil Nadu by announcing a new scheme for them.
• Sports Minister Sh. Udhayanidhi Stalin said that at Trichy on 07-02-2024 a new scheme called “Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme will be launched by the Department of sports.
• Then on 18-02-2024 at Madurai Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme was officially launched by the Tamil Nadu Government.
• The main aim behind launching the Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme is to encourage players of Tamil Nadu to perform better in National as well as International Sports Events and win medals for State and for India.
• Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu Government is the implementing agency of this scheme.
• Sports Kit will be provided to all eligible students/ players of Tamil Nadu under this scheme.
• Sports Kit provided under Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme will be absolutely free of cost, no amount will be charged from players or students for the distributed kit.
• Kalaignar Sports Kit will only distributed among students or players residing in Rural Areas of Tamil Nadu.
• These free of cost sports kit will be distributed in 12,000 village panchayats of Tamil Nadu State Rural Areas.
• 33 Items related to Exercise and Sports for each and every village panchayat will be provided for players under Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme.
• Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme is also known as “Kalaignar Free of Cost Sports Kit Scheme” or “Kalaignar Sports Kit Thittam” or “Dr. Kalaignar Sports Equipment Scheme”.
• Interested Sports Person or Players can apply for sports kit under Kalaignar Free Sports Kit Scheme by applying through Application Form which is available in Gram Panchayat Office or in the office of District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Benefits that are provided to Students/ Players of Tamil Nadu under Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme are as follows :-
  

  Sports Kit will be Provided Free of Cost to Players. No Money from Players will be Charged for Sports Kit. Free of Cost Sports Kit will be provided for following sports :- Silambam. Football. Badminton. Cricket. Volleyball. Throw Ball. Gym. Tennikoit. Skipping. Carrom. Kabaddi. Chess.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Government of Tamil Nadu sets the following eligibility conditions for beneficiaries’ sports person in order to provide them free of cost sports kit under the Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme :-
  • Only Residents of Tamil Nadu are Eligible to Apply.
  • Applicant should be a District/ State/ National Lever Sports Player.
  • Beneficiary Player should be a resident of Rural Area.

• Documents that are required at the time of applying for a free of cost sports kit under Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme of Government of Tamil Nadu are mentioned below :-
  • Domicile of Tamil Nadu.
  • Aadhar Card of Beneficiary.
  • Family Income Certificate.

How Beneficiaries Can Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme of Tamil Nadu Government was launched on 18-02-2024 at Madurai.
• Beneficiary Students/Sports Person can apply to get a free-of-cost sports kit by applying through the Offline Application Form.
• Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme Offline Application Form can be obtained from any of the following office :-
  • District Sports and Youth Welfare Offier Office.
  • District Office of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.
  • Office of Gram or Village Panchayat.
• Fill out the application form carefully without any mistakes.
• Attach a hard copy of all the documents with the form.
• Now submit the application form along with all documents in the same office.
• District Sports and Youth Welfare Officers will scrutinize the application form and documents.
• Students/sports persons will be shortlisted from every village for kit distribution.
• Sports Person/ Student will be informed about the sports kit distribution program on their registered mobile number.
• Free-of-Cost Sports Kit will be distributed to selected students/ sports persons by their Gram Panchayat.
• Only Offline Application Mode is available, Beneficiary Students cannot apply through the Online Application Form of Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme.
