Introduction of West Bengal Rupashree Prakalpa: A Brief Insight
- We all know that there is a lot of money is needed for a marriage ceremony.
- And if the marriage is of a girl, then we can not expect the expenses to be incurred.
- Lots of families face a financial crunch to happily conduct the marriage of their daughter.
- To support this low-income family group, the Government of West Bengal started Rupashree Prakalpa.
- It was launched in April 1st, 2018.
- The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide financial assistance to the brides of West Bengal for their marriage.
- West Bengal’s Women and Child and Social Welfare Department is the nodal department of Rupashree Prakalpa.
- This scheme is also called as “West Bengal Marriage Assistance Scheme” or “West Bengal Rupashree Scheme”.
- Rs. 25,000/- (Twenty Five Thousand Rupees Only) will be provided as a one-time financial assistance to the Bride of the State under West Bengal Rupashree Prakalpa.
- Brides permanently residing in West Bengal are only eligible to apply.
- The annual family income of the bride’s family should not be more than Rs. 1,50,000/- (One Lakh Fifty Thousand Only).
- Financial Assistance under the West Bengal Government’s Rupashree Scheme will be provided only for the first marriage of the Bride.
- The ages of the Bride and Bridegroom should be 18 Years and 21 Years, respectively.
- Eligible beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance under West Bengal’s Rupashree Prakalpa through the Rupashree Scheme Offline Application Form.
- In case of any help or assistance required regarding Rupashree Prakalpa, then beneficiaries can contact their nearest District Office of Women and Child Development Department.
- Eligible Women Applicants can also apply for “Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme” of the West Bengal Government, in which monthly financial assistance will be provided.

- West Bengal Government is providing financial assistance under West Bengal Rupashree Prakalpa to the brides for their first marriage.
- The following financial assistance will be provided under Rupashree Prakalpa :-
- Rs. 25,000/- (Twenty Five Thousand Rupees Only).
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The below-mentioned Eligibility Conditions are set by the Government of West Bengal to avail the benefit of Rupashree Prakalpa are as follows :-
- Bride should be a resident of West Bengal :-
- Should be born in West Bengal OR,
- Should be a resident of West Bengal for 5 Years.
- The age of the Bride should be 18 Years or More.
- Age of bridegroom should be 21 Years or More.
- The Annual Family Income of the Bride should not be more than Rs. 1,50,000/- (One Lakh Fifty Thousand Only)
- Marriage of the Bride should be her First Marriage.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- The bride or the Bride’s Family can apply for financial assistance through Rupashree Scheme Application Form.
- Application Form for Rupashree Prakalpa will be collected free of cost from the offices of :-
- Block Development Officer. (Rural Area Limit)
- Sub Divisional Officer. (Municipal Area Limit)
- Commissioner of the District. (Corporation Area Limit)
- Fill the Application Form properly and attach all the required documents.
- Once the Application Form is filled and all the Documents are attached, submit it in the office of :-
- Block Development Officer. (Rural Area Limit)
- Sub Divisional Officer. (Municipal Area Limit)
- Commissioner of the District. (Corporation Area Limit)
- Application Form and Documents are subject to verification.
- Competent Officer will verify the application form and documents thoroughly.
- Once the Application Form is accepted, the financial assistance under Rupashree Prakalpa is transferred in the given bank account of the Bride.
- Applicant can also track her Application Status of Rupashree Prakalpa by her application number at the West Bengal Rupashree Prakalpa Portal.
Key Features of the Scheme
- Application Form of Rupashree Prakalpa will be submitted by the applicant within 30 days of marriage.
- Application Form submitted before 60 days before marriage will not be entertained.
- Financial Assistance under the Rupashree Scheme of the West Bengal Government will be transferred into the bank account of the Bride 5 Days before the marriage.
- If the applicant has any grievance related to the Rupashree Prakalpa, he/she can contact the office of the Block Development Officer or the Corporation Officer for help.
- Field Visit is also conducted by the official for physical verification.
