Introduction of West Bengal Taposili Bandhu Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Taposili Bandhu Scheme is one of the major welfare schemes of the West Bengal Government which is started specifically for the backward class people.
  • On 1st of April 2020, the Government of West Bengal started a One Umbrella Scheme named “Jai Bangla Scheme”.
  • Jai Bangla Scheme has lots of pension schemes which was operated by different departments of the Government.
  • Taposili Bandhu Scheme is one of the sub-schemes of Jai Bangal Scheme which is started for the welfare of old-age people of SC category.
  • For the welfare of the Scheduled Tribe People, the West Bengal Government started a separate scheme named “Jai Johar Scheme”.
  • The main aim behind starting this scheme is to support old-age people of West Bengal financially who belong to the Scheduled Caste Category.
  • Government’s Backward and Classes Welfare Department is the implementing department of this scheme.
  • The other common names of this scheme are “Taposhili Bandhu Scheme” or “Taposili Bandhu Prakalpa” or “Pension Scheme for Schedule Caste People of West Bengal”.
  • West Bengal Government will now provide monthly financial assistance as a pension to old age people belonging to the SC category in order to stabilise their financial condition.
  • All Eligible Beneficiaries of the Schedule Caste category will get a monthly pension scheme of Rs. 1,000/- under the Government of West Bengal’s Taposili Bandhu Scheme.
  • This monthly assistance will help them to bear the cost of daily common expenses incurred by old-age people.
  • As mentioned earlier, the Taposili Bandhu Scheme was specifically started for people belonging to the SC category, so only the SC category are eligible to apply and avail the benefits of a monthly pension under this scheme.
  • Beneficiaries whose age is 60 years or above can apply for a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- under the Taposili Bandhu Scheme.
  • Application Form can be collected free of cost from the Offices of Block Development Officer (BDO), Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s Office and Kolkata Municipal Corporation Office.
  • At present, there is no Official Website of the Taposili Bandhu Scheme and there is no online application form available.
  • Application Status of Taposili Bandhu Scheme can also be checked by visiting the Duare Sarkaar Portal.
  • Beneficiaries can also contact their area’s District Welfare Officer or Block Development Officer in case of any help/ assistance or information needed about the Taposili Bandhu Scheme.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • All eligible beneficiaries will get the following benefits from the West Bengal Government under the Taposili Bandhu Scheme :-
    • Monthly Financial Assistance as a Pension will be Provided.
    • Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per Month will be given to all Selected Beneficiaries.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Government of West Bengal will provide monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/- as pension under Taposili Bandhu Scheme to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the following eligibility conditions :-
    • Permanent Residents of West Bengal are only eligible to apply.
    • Pension under this scheme should only be provided to the Scheduled Caste Category People.
    • Age of Beneficiary Applicant must be 60 years or more than 60 Years.
    • Beneficiary Applicant should not be taking any financial assistance from other pension scheme.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • Beneficiaries will have to attach the following documents with the Application Form of the Taposili Bandhu Scheme of the West Bengal Government at the time of submitting it :-
    • Any Residence Proof of West Bengal.
    • Beneficiary Aadhar Card.
    • Schedule Caste Certificate.
    • Voter ID Card.
    • Digital Ration Card of Beneficiary.
    • Family Income Certificate.
    • Bank Account Number of IFSC Code.
    • Beneficiary Photograph.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Beneficiaries eligible for pension under Taposili Bandhu Scheme can apply through Application Form.
  • Application Form for Taposili Bandhu Scheme can be collected free of cost from any of the offices :-
    • Sub Divisional Officer Office in Municipal Areas.
    • Kolkata Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s Office.
    • Block Development Officer Office (BDO) in Rural Areas.
  • Take Application Form from the above-mentioned offices and fill it out without making any mistakes.
  • All required documents should be attached with the Taposili Bandhu Application Form.
  • Taposili Bandhu Application Form and Documents will then be submitted by rural area beneficiaries in the Block Development Officer’s Office and in the Municipal Corporation Commissioner’s Office by urban area resident beneficiaries.
  • Received Application Forms will be verified by the BDO/ SDO and Commissioner to confirm the eligibility and further will be verified by the Office of the District Magistrate.
  • Data of eligible beneficiaries is then uploaded on the Jai Bangla Portal by concerned officers.
  • List of Beneficiaries selected for the monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- under Taposili Bandhu Scheme will then be forwarded to the Department for approval of pension.
  • Backwards and Classes Welfare Department of West Bengal Government will then sanction the pension of all eligible beneficiaries and transfer the pension directly into the bank account of the beneficiary.
  • Beneficiaries of the Taposili Bandhu Scheme can also Check the Application Status of their Application through the Duare Sarkaar Portal.
