Telangana KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme

The Telangana KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme is a healthcare initiative of the Telangana Government aimed at providing nutritional items to pregnant women in Telangana. The Telangana KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme was launched on 21st of December 2021. A free-of-cost nutrition kit, which contains Nutrition Mix Powder, Khajoor (Dates), Iron Syrup Bottles, Ghee, a Cup, and Peanut Chikki, will be provided to every pregnant woman in Telangana State.

Introduction of Telangana KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme: A Brief Insight

• During the time of pregnancy period, extra care and attention are needed for pregnant women.
• But in most cases, pregnant women did not get the mandatory nutrition which is needed at the time of pregnancy.
• This will directly affect the health of a newborn child and also in some cases, pregnant women face difficulty at the time of delivery.
• Keeping these things in mind, the Government of Telangana takes a major initiative by starting the KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme in the State.
• Telangana Nutrition Kit Scheme is the major welfare scheme of the Telangana Government.
• The launch date of the KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme is the 21^st of December 2022.
• The main aim of starting the KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme is to provide the needed nutrients to Pregnant Women during the time of her pregnancy.
• Telangana Government’s Department of Health, Medical & Family Welfare is the responsible department of the KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme.

• Consuming these items will reduce the risk of anaemia and Malnutrition and improve the levels of haemoglobin in Pregnant Women.
• Every Pregnant woman of Telangana is eligible to get the KCR Nutrition Kit.
• It is estimated that more than 13 lakh KCR Nutrition Kits have been distributed among the 7 Lakh Pregnant Women of Telangana State.
• KCR Nutrition Kit will only be provided to 2 Living children of the Women Beneficiary.
• And if a woman beneficiary gives birth to a child in a government hospital, then she can also avail the benefit of one-time financial assistance of Rs. 12,000/- for boy and Rs. 13,000/- for Girl under MCH Kit Scheme of the Telangana Government.
• There is no online application process is available to apply for the KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme.
• Eligible Pregnant Women of Telangana State can get her KCR Nutrition Kit by visiting their nearest Anganwadi Centre or contact the ASHA Worker.
• Also women of Telangana can also avail the benefit of Mahalakshmi Scheme in which a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,500/- per month and LPG Gas Cylinder at Rs. 500/- will be provided.
• If any woman belongs to a minority community, then she can apply for “Free Sewing Machine Scheme” in which the Telangana Government provides a free of cost sewing machine to eligible women applicants.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The following benefits will be provided to Pregnant Women of Telangana under the KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme :-
  

  Pregnant Women Beneficiaries will get a Monthly KCR Nutrition Kit. The time period in which Pregnant Women Beneficiaries will get the KCR Nutrition Kit are :- At the time of the Second Check Up, when a Pregnant woman’s Pregnancy is in 14 Weeks to 26 Weeks. And when a Pregnant woman’s Pregnancy is in 27 Weeks to 34 Weeks. Every KCR Nutrition Kit has the following healthy items :- Nutrition Mix Powder 1 KG. Khajoor (Dates) 1KG. Iron Syrup 3 Bottles. Ghee 500 Grams. 1 Cup. Peanut Chikki 200 Grams.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility conditions is set to provide Nutrition Kit under the Telangana Government’s KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme :-
  • The beneficiary should be a Permanent Resident of Telangana.
  • The beneficiary should be a Pregnant woman.
  • The Age of the beneficiary should be more than 18 Years.
  • Annual Income of Women Beneficiary Family should be below Rs. 1,20,000/-.
  • KCR Nutrition Kit will only be provided to 2 Living children of the Beneficiary.

• The following documents are required to get a Nutrition Kit under the KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme of the Telangana Government:-
  

  Any One Residence Proof of Telangana:- Domicile. Voter Identity Card. Ration Card. Passport. Women Beneficiary’s Aadhar Card. Annual Income Certificate of Family. Beneficiary Caste Certificate.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Every Pregnant Woman of Telangana is eligible to get the KCR Nutrition Kit.
• The Application Process of KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme is so simple.
• Eligible Pregnant Women Beneficiaries can visit their nearest Anganwadi Centre and meet the Anganwadi or Asha Worker.
• Anganwadi/ ASHA Worker will do all the paperwork on behalf of the beneficiary and get the beneficiary registered under the Telangana KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme by filling the Offline Registration Form of the Nutrition Kit Scheme.
• KCR Nutrition Kit will be distributed among Pregnant Women Beneficiaries through Anganwadi Centres.
• KCR Nutrition Kit will be provided to Pregnant Women every month from their 14^th Week of Pregnancy to their 34^th Week of Pregnancy.
• Women Beneficiary can collect their KCR Nutrition Kit from the Anganwadi Centre in their area.

• It is a very great step taken by the Government of Telangana towards the nutritional health of pregnant women of the State. If implemented properly, then Telangana will soon eliminate malnutrition among newborn children. But according to sources, Nutrition Kit is not distributed among pregnant ladies in some of the districts and this causes the reduction of the impact of the scheme.
