Introduction of Punjab Old Age Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight

Government of Punjab runs lots of welfare scheme for its residents which directly and indirectly make huge impact in their lives.
One of the prominent scheme is “Old Age Pension Scheme”.
The main aim of the Punjab Government behind starting this scheme is to make old age people financially self-reliant so that they cannot depend on others for their daily expenses.
Social Security and Women & Child Development Department of the Government of Punjab is the implementing department of this scheme.
The government will now provide monthly financial assistance as a pension to all eligible old-age people of the state.
Each Old Age Beneficiary will get Rs. 1,500/- per month pension from the Government’s Old Age Pension Scheme.
Earlier, the pension amount was very low, i.e. Rs. 750/- per month, then the government increased it to Rs. 1,500/- per month along with the amount of the Ashirwad Scheme.
Women Beneficiaries whose Age is 58 years or more and Male Beneficiaries whose age is 65 years or more are eligible to apply for a monthly pension under the Old Age Pension Yojana of the Government of Punjab.
If any beneficiary family’s annual income is more than Rs. 60,000/- per year, then they are not eligible to apply for this scheme.
Punjab Government provides both Online and Offline facilities to apply for Old Age Pension.
Online Application Form is available on the Digital Punjab Portal, and the Offline Application Form is available in the CDPO, SDM, DSSO, Angranwadi Centre, Sewa Kendra, or Panchayat Office.

Old Age People of Punjab whose age is 58 years or more (65 years or more for men) will get the below-mentioned benefits from the Government of Punjab under its Old Age Pension Scheme :-

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

Per Month Pension of Rs. 1,500/- under Old Age Pension Scheme of Punjab Government will only provide to those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of scheme :-

Permanent Resident Old Age People of Punjab are Eligible to Apply.
The minimum age limit required to be fulfilled for Old Age Pension are :-
- For Men:- 65 Years or Above.

Annual Family of Old Age People should be less than Rs. 60,000/- per year.
If any of the Old Age People Beneficiary owned any one of the following mentioned land, then they are also eligible :-
- Maximum 2.5 acres of Nehri/ Chahi Land, OR

Online Application Procedure

Old Age People of Punjab can apply for a monthly pension of Rs. 1,500/- through the Online Application Form which is available on the Digital Punjab Portal of the Government of Punjab.
Visit the Portal and Click on Register Now or Apply Services.
The beneficiary will have to fill in the following details in the Registration Form :-
Login with your Mobile Number and Chosen Password.
Choose the Old Age Pension Scheme and fill in personal details, contact details, bank account details, and upload documents.
Preview the Application Form and click on the Submit Button to submit it.
Submitted Punjab Old Age Pension Scheme Online Application Form and Documents will be scrutinized by Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and the District Social Security Officer. (DSSO)
A list of Eligible Old Age People will be made, and then it will be forwarded to the department for sanctioning of the pension amount.
Pension Amount of Rs. 1,500/- per month will be directly disbursed in the aadhaar-linked bank account of the beneficiary.
