Telangana Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme

The Telangana Government introduced a marriage assistance scheme for poor girls in 2014, known as the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme. A financial assistance of Rs. Introduction of Telangana Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Telangana Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme is the major welfare scheme of the Telangana Government for the welfare of poor brides.
• It was started by Honourable Chief Minister Sh. Kalavakunta Chandrashekar Rao on October 2nd 2014.
• The nodal department of this scheme is Department of Backward Class Welfare.
• As we all know that marriage is an expensive affair.
• Lakhs of Rupees will be needed for the marriage ofa  girl to arrange the wedding function and to give gifts to girl from her parents.
• A lots of girls in Telangana State belongs to poor families who are not able to bear the expenses of the marriage.
• So the main reason behind launchingthe  Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor brides of Telangana for their marriage.
• This financial assistance will help them to arrange all the necessary things wants to be needed in the marriage.
• Government of Telangana’s Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme is become a boon in the life of poor people of Telangana State.
• The other name of this scheme is “Telangana Financial Assistance Scheme for Marriage” or “Telangana Kalyana Lakshmi Pathakam”.
• Under the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme, the Telangana Government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,00,116/- (One Lakh, One Hundred, Sixteen Rupees Only) to the eligible brides of the Telangana State.
• In the earlier stage, the financial assistance of Rs. 51,000/- (Fifty One Thousand Rupees Only) was given to the brides for their marriage.
• But in 2017, the Government of Telangana revised this amount to Rs. 75,116/- (Seventy Thousand, One Hundred and Sixteen Rupees Only).
• Then in 2018, the Telangana Government further increased this amount to Rs. 1,00,116/- (One Lakh, One Hundred Sixteen Rupees Only) to give major relief to the poor brides of the State.
• Now newly formed Congress Government will also provide 10 Grams of Gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi Pathakam of Telangana.
• The Brides belonging to the below-mentioned category are only eligible to apply for monetary assistance under Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme :-
  • Schedule Caste.
  • Schedule Tribe.
  • Backward Class.
  • Economically Backward Class.
• The annual income of the bride’s family belonging to the Schedule Caste and the Scheduled Tribe should not be more than Rs. 2,00,000/- (Two Lakh Rupees Only) to avail the benefit of this Scheme.
• Annual Income of Bridel’s family who belongs to the Economically Backwards Class and Backwards Class, should not be more than the following limit :-
  • Rs. 2,00,000/- (Two Lakh Rupees Only) in Urban Areas.
  • Rs. 1,50,000/- (One Lakh Fifty Thousand Rupees Only) in Rural Areas.
• Eligible brides of Telangana State will apply through the Online ePass Portal to avail the benefit of the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme.
• Minority Applicant can apply for financial assistance for marriage separately under Shaadi Mubaarak Scheme of the Telangana Government.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The following Financial Assistance will be provided to the beneficiaries under the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme :-
  • Rs. 1,00,116/- (One Lakh, One Hundred, Sixteen Rupees Only).
  • 10 Gram of Gold.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Eligibility Criteria fixed by the Telangana Government to avail the benefit of financial assistance for marriage under the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme are as follows :-
  

  Brides of Telangana are only eligible to apply. Age of Bride should be 18 Years and Above. Bride should belong to any of the following categories:- Schedule Caste. Schedule Tribe. Backward Class. Economically Backward Class. The Annual Family Income of the Bride belongs to the Schedule Caste and the Scheduled Tribe should be below Rs. 2,00,000/-. The annual income of the bride’s family belongs to the Backwards Class and the Economically Backwards Class should be :- Rs. 2,00,000/- in Urban Areas. Rs. 1,50,000/- in Rural Areas.

Documents Required to be Attached

• The Following Documents will be required at the time of applying for financial assistance under the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme of the Telangana Government :-
  • Photograph of Bride.
  • Bride’s Birth Certificate or Any Age Proof.
  • Aadhar Card of Bride.
  • Aadhar Card of Bride’s Mother.
  • Aadhar Card of the Bride and Groom.
  • Certificate of 1st Marriage.
  • Bank Account Details of Bride and Bride’s Mother.
  • Income Certificate of the Family.

How Beneficiaries Bride Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• The beneficiary can apply for Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form is available on Telangana’s ePass Portal.
• First the bride should have Register herself.
• Now the Registration Form will appear on the Screen.
• Fill the details mentioned below in phase-wise:-
  • Bride Details.
  • Income Certificate Details.
  • Permanent Address of Bride.
  • Present Address of Bride.
  • Bank Account Details of Bride.
  • Bank Account Details of Bride’s Mother.
  • Bride Groom Details.
  • Permanent Address of Bride Groom.
  • Details of Marriage.
  • Documents Upload.
• Once all the particulars are filled correctly, fill in the captcha code and submit it.
• Application Form is submitted and Application Number will be generated by the Portal.
• Beneficiary can also check their Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme Application Status by filling their Application Number and Mobile Number on the portal.
• Application Form and Documents are subject to verification.
• Once verified by a welfare officer, the financial amount of this Scheme will be transferred to the given bank account of the beneficiary.

Key Features of the Scheme

• Received Applications of the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme will be allotted to the Village Revenue Officer by the Tehsildar concerned for Verification.
• Field Inquiry will be conducted by the Village Revenue Officer.
• The following things will be verified by the Village Revenue Officer during his field inquiry visit :-
  • Address of Bride and Groom.
  • Income Eligibility.
  • Aadhar Card Details of Bride and Groom.
  • Caste Certificate if Any.
  • Any Other Relevant Details to be Verified.
• Once the field verification is done, the application form and documents of the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme will be forwarded to the Tehsildar for further approval.
• After the Tehsildar’s approval, the application is then forwarded to the MLA concerned for approval.
• The application will be forwarded for payment and the financial assistance under the Kalyana Lakshmi Scheme will be transferred into the bank account of bthe eneficiary.
