Introduction of Tamil Nadu Anbu Karangal Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru. M.K. Stalin launched one of the most prominent scheme for children named “Anbu Karangal Scheme” in the State on 15-09-2025.
- The tagline of this scheme is “Arms of Love”.
- There are lots of children in Tamil Nadu who have lost both or one parent and are currently being raised by their relatives.
- So, with an objective to provide support to these children, the Tamil Nadu Government launched the Anbu Karangal Financial Assistance Scheme in the State.
- This scheme is a part of another welfare scheme of the Government named “Chief Minister Thayumanavar Scheme”.
- Anbu Karangal Scheme will be implemented by Social Welfare & Women Empowerment Department of the Tamil Nadu Government.
- Monthly Financial Assistance of Rs. 2,000/- will be provided to all eligible children till they attain the age of 18 years under Anbu Karangal Scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government.
- It’s a direct to benefit transfer scheme in which this per-month assistance will be directly transferred in the bank account of the beneficiary children.
- Children who have lost both parents or lost one parent but the other is not in a condition to support their education or daily needs are eligible to apply for financial assistance under the Tamil Nadu Government’s Anbu Karangal Financial Assistance Scheme.
- For smooth identification of the beneficiary children, the government will also distribute separate identification scheme cards to the selected students.
- Tamil Nadu Government will also take appropriate measures under this scheme to provide college education and relevant skill development training once the children have completed their schooling.
- Anbu Karangal Scheme initiative of the Tamil Nadu Government will ensure that the deprived children get better education so that they can write their future with their own hands.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of Tamil Nadu, under its newly launched Anbu Karangal Scheme will provide the following benefits to all needy children of the State :-
- Monthly Financial Assistance will be provided to all Eligible and Selected Students.
- Rs. 2,000/- per month will be directly transferred into the bank account of the children.
- Per Month Assistance will be provided to children till they attain the age of 18 years.
- A separate Scheme Identification Card will also be provided.
- Support for College Education after completing Schooling.
- Skill Development Training will also be provided.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The benefits of Tamil Nadu Government’s Anbu Karangal Scheme will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
- Permanent Resident Children are Eligible to Apply.
- Applicant Child should belong to any one of the following categories:-
- Destitute Children who have lost both or one parent.
- Abandoned Children whose one parent has passed away and the other has abandoned them.
- Children whose one parent has passed away and the other is physically or mentally challenged.
- Children whose one parent has passed away and the other is in Prison.
- Children whose one parent has passed away and the other is living with a life-threatening disease.
Documents Required to be Attached
- The documents mentioned below will have to be submitted with the Application Form of Anbu Karangal Scheme of Government of Tamil Nadu at the time of applying:-
- Family Ration Card.
- Parents’ Death Certificate.
- Applicant Child Aadhaar Card.
- Birth Certificate of Applicant Child.
- Bank Account Details.
- Recent Color Passport-Size Photo.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Guardian or Relative of the Beneficiary Child can apply on their behalf and register them under the Anbu Karangal Scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government.
- Application Form of Anbu Karangal Scheme can be collected free of cost from any of the following places :-
- Ungaludin Stalin Camps.
- Office of the District Collector.
- Office of the District Child Protection Officer. (DCPO)
- Take the Anbu Karangal Scheme Application Form from any of the above-mentioned offices and fill it carefully.
- Attach all the required documents to the Application Form.
- Submit the Anbu Karangal Thittam Application Form along with all the documents to the Ungaludin Stalin Camps or DCPO Office or District Collector’s Office.
- District Child Protection Officer will initially verify the received application form and documents.
- Ground verification can also be done by DCPO in case of any clarification.
- The list of children found to be eligible for assistance under the Anbu Karangal Scheme will then be sent to the respective department for final approval.
- Beneficiary Children will then receive financial assistance of Rs. 2,000/- per month directly in their bank account till they attain the age of 18 years.
- Visit the DCPO or District Collector’s Office for any information needed for Tamil Nadu Government’s Anbu Karangal Scheme.
