Introduction of Punjab Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana: A Brief Insight

• AAP-led Punjab Government had announced and approved the revamped version of Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana in July 2025, which is a major health insurance scheme for the people of Punjab.
• Earlier, the name of this scheme was “Sehat Sarbat Bima Yojana”, which was launched in the year 2019.
• State Health Agency of the Punjab Government is the implementing agency of this scheme.
• A cashless and completely free of cost treatment up to Rs. 10,00,000/- will be provided to households of Punjab under Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana.
• Earlier, there was a 5 lakh limit on cashless treatment under the older version of Sehat Sarbat Bima Yojana.
• Now in the new version, beneficiary families can avail the benefit of free treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh in any Government or Empanelled Private Hospital.
• More than 2,000 types of treatment will be covered and available completely free of cost under the Punjab Government’s Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana.
• Punjab Government will issue a “Chief Minister Health Card” for each beneficiary under this scheme, which can be used in hospitals to avail the free treatment.
• As a pilot project, the Punjab Government already started registration in Tarn Taran and Barnala Districts.
• From January 2026, Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Bhagwant Mann Ji is going to roll out the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana in the whole of the State.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Punjab Government, through its Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, will provide the following benefits to all eligible households of the State :-
  • Free and Cashless Treatment in Government and Empanelled Private Hospitals.
  • Cashless Treatment up to Rs. 10,00,000/- per year per family is applicable under this scheme.
  • The benefits of the Scheme covers Pre Hospitalization and Post Discharge Period.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The benefit of free and cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh in government and empanelled private hospitals will be provided to those families who fulfil the below mentioned eligibility criteria of Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana (MMSBY) of the Government of Punjab :-
  • Permanent Resident Families of Punjab are eligible for Health Insurance Cover.
  • Government Outsourcing, Contractual or Consultancy-based workers are also covered under this scheme.
  • Punjab Government’s Regular Employees and Pensioners.
  • No Minimum or Maximum Cap on Family Members and Annual Income.

How to Check the Eligibility of MMBSY

• Before applying for the CM Health Card of the Punjab Government, it is important to check the Eligibility of Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana.
• State Health Agency of the Government of Punjab provides the facility on their portal to check the Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana Eligibility with the help of an Aadhaar Number.
• Visit the Portal and Click on Citizen Corner and enter your Aadhaar Number in Beneficiary ID.
  
• After clicking on the search button, the portal will show the eligibility or ineligibility of the beneficiary.

Documents Required to be Attached

• The following documents will be required to generate an e-card under the Punjab Government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana (MMSBY)
  • Aadhaar Card of Applicant.
  • Voter Identity Card.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Households can apply and get their Mukh Mantri Sehat Card issued by the Punjab Government under its Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana through the following ways :-
  • Through the Ayushman Bharat Portal or Mobile App.
  • Through the Sewa Kendra or CSC Centre.
  • Through the Government Hospital and the Empanelled Private Hospital.

Online Application Process through Ayushman Portal or Mobile App

• The simplest and easiest way to generate a Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana Card is through the Official Portal of Ayushman Bharat or through its Official Mobile App.
  
• Just visit the portal or download the mobile app on your mobile phone.
• Log in as a beneficiary with the help of your mobile number.
• The portal or Mobile App will verify the mobile number through OTP.
• After Login, select PMJAY, choose your state as Punjab, enter your District and mention your Aadhaar card number.
• The portal will fetch the details of the applicant which will also be verified through OTP authentication.
• Complete the eKYC by capturing the face picture, IRIS Scanner or by Thumb.
• Submit the Application after completing the eKYC.
• Portal will then generate the CM Health Card under the Punjab Government’s Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana.
• Just visit any government or empanelled private hospital with the card and avail the benefit of free and cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh.

By Visiting Sewa Kendra or CSC Centre

• Eligible households can also apply and generate their Mukh Mantri Sehat Card by visiting their nearest Sewa Kendra or CSC Centre.
• Visit the Sewa Kendra or Common Service Centre (CSC) of your area with Aadhaar Card, Voter Identity Card and a Passport Size Photograph.
• The operator present at the centre will do the Punjab Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana Online Registration.
• eKYC of Aadhaar will be done with the help of Mobile OTP.
• After successful verification, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Card will be generated by the operator and handed over to the beneficiary.

By Visiting the Hospital

• Each Government and Empanelled Private Hospital has a Mukh Mantri Sehat Beema Yojana Helpdesk Counter, which can also generate the CM Health Card.
• The beneficiary will have to visit the nearest Government or Empanelled Private Hospital and go tothe  Ayushman or Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana Counter.
• Officials will generate the Health Card under this scheme with the help of the beneficiary’s Aadhaar card and voter identity card.
• Call on 104 or 14555 in case any help or assistance is required regarding the Punjab Government’s Mukhya Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana. (MMSBY)
