Introduction of Delhi Family Benefit Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • In most of the families, the Head Member is the sole bread earner who can bear all the expenses of family members.
  • But if the family lose their primary bread earner due to their sudden demise, then there is a crisis on their livelihood.
  • Some of the families did not even make ends meet and were deprived due to the non-availability of a stable source of income.
  • Keeping these things in mind, Arvind Kejriwal led the Delhi Government, started the “Family Benefit Scheme”.
  • The main aim behind starting this scheme is to support those families financially who lost their primary bread earner so early.
  • This scheme is also known by another name i.e “Delhi Family Benefit Yojana”.
  • Delhi Government’s Social Welfare/ Rehabilitation Services Department is the implementing department of this scheme.
  • Government of Delhi will now provide financial assistance to those families whose sole earner of the family lost his/ her life.
  • One-time financial assistance of Rs. 20,000/- under the Family Benefit Scheme will be provided to all eligible beneficiaries.
  • Applicants who are Permanent Residents of Delhi or Residents of Delhi for 5 years are eligible to apply if they lost their head of the family so early.
  • The other eligibility condition required to be met is that the Deceased Sole Earner’s age should be between 18 years to 60 years.
  • If the beneficiary’s annual family income is more than Rs. 1,00,000/- then they are not eligible to apply for financial assistance under this Scheme of the Delhi Government.
  • Aadhar Card is mandatorily required at the time of application.
  • Beneficiary Applicant can apply through both online and offline ways for the Delhi Family Benefit Scheme.
  • Family Benefit Scheme Online Application Form is available on E District Portal, whereas the Offline Application Form can be collected from any District Social Welfare Office.
  • The beneficiary can contact the nearest District Social Welfare Office in case of any help or assistance required about the Family Benefit Scheme of the Delhi Government.
  • Women Applicants can also apply for “Mahila Samriddhi Yojana” in which a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,500/- will be provided by the Delhi Government.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • Government of Delhi will provide the following benefits to all eligible beneficiaries under its Family Benefit Scheme :-
    • Financial Support in case of the Untimely Demise of the Sole Bread Earner of the Family.
    • One-time financial Assistance of Rs. 20,000/- will be provided.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • One-time financial assistance of Rs. 20,000/- in case of the demise of the primary bread earner will only be provided to those beneficiaries who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility conditions of Delhi Government’s Family Benefit Scheme :-
    • Applicant and Deceased Primary Bread Earner should be a Permanent Resident or Resident of Delhi for 5 Years.
    • Deceased Primary Bread Earner’s Age should be between 18 Years to 60 Years.
    • Family Annual Income should be less than Rs. 1 Lakh.
    • Aadhar Card is Mandatory at the time of application.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • Self-attested documents that are required to be attached with the application form or uploaded on the portal at the time of applying for financial assistance under the Delhi Government’s Family Benefit Scheme are mentioned below :-
    • Residence Proof of Delhi.
    • Any Age Proof.
    • Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.
    • Death Certificate of Primary Bread Earner of Family.
    • 1 Passport Size Photograph.
    • Income Certificate or Self Declaration.
    • Mobile Number.

How Beneficiaries Can Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Beneficiary Applicant can apply for one-time financial assistance under the Family Benefit Scheme of the Delhi Government through below mentioned ways :-
    • Through the Online Application Form available on the E District Portal.
    • Through the Offline Application Form available at the District Social Welfare Officer’s Office.

Through the Online Application Form

  • Beneficiary Applicant can apply for the Family Benefit Scheme through Online Application Form which is available on the Delhi Government’s E District Portal.
  • Visit the E District Portal and Click on Apply Service.

  • Then Click on Register and Fill Aadhar Number.

  • Aadhar Number will be verified by the portal through OTP authentication.
  • User ID and Password will be sent on the beneficiary’s mobile number registration.
  • Again Login in the portal with the help of the received User ID and Password.

  • Click on the Services Tab and Choose Family Benefit Scheme.
  • Online Application Form of Family Benefit Scheme will appear in which the beneficiary has to fill in personal details and contact details.
  • Upload all the required documents, including the Death Certificate of the Bread Earner of the Family.
  • Preview the Application Form of the Family Benefit Scheme and click on Submit to submit it.
  • Registration Number will be allotted and sent to the registered mobile number of the applicant.
  • District Social Welfare Officer will verify the received Application Forms and Documents.
  • A list will be made of selected beneficiaries and an SMS will also be sent to them to inform them about their selection.
  • If needed, the District Social Welfare Officer can also call the beneficiary applicant for physical verification.
  • Beneficiaries selected for financial assistance of Rs. 20,000/- under the Delhi Family Benefit Scheme will get the amount in their given bank account.

Through the Offline Application Form

  • Beneficiary Applicant can also apply for Family Benefit Scheme financial assistance through the Offline Application Form.
  • Offline Application Form of Family Benefit Scheme can be collected from any District Social Welfare Office.
  • Collect the Application Form, fill it correctly and attach all the required documents with it.
  • Submit the  Application Form and Documents to the same District Social Welfare Office.
  • The received Application Form will be verified by District Social Welfare Officer.
  • The beneficiary can be informed through SMS about their selection.
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 20,000/- will be directly transferred into the bank account of the beneficiary.
  • By Application Number and Applicant Name, beneficiary can also check their Application Status by visiting E District Portal.
