Introduction of Laadli Laxmi Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Laadli Laxmi Scheme is the most prominent and flagship scheme of the Government of Goa.
  • It was launched on the 6th of July 2012.
  • The main aim behind starting this girl-oriented scheme is to give support to girls of Goa so that they do not become a burden on their parents at the time of marriage.
  • Goa Government’s Directorate of Women and Child Development is the responsible department of this scheme.
  • In Goa, the other name of this scheme is “Laadli Laxmi Yojana Goa”.
  • All eligible girl beneficiaries will now receive a one-time financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh from the Goa government under the Laadli Laxmi Scheme.
  • Money provided under this scheme can be used by Girl Beneficiaries to manage their marriage expenses or to pursue higher studies, or to do any kind of business activity for self-employment.
  • Government will jointly create a fixed account of Rs. 1 Lakh in the name of the Girl and the Director of the Women and Child Development Department.
  • Then Girl Beneficiary can claim this amount after attaining the age of 18 years at the time of her marriage, for business activity or for higher education.
  • Girl Beneficiaries who are permanent residents of Goa or residing in Goa for the last 15 years are only eligible to apply for financial assistance under the Laadli Laxmi Scheme of the Goa Government.
  • When claimed, the assistance of Rs. 1,00,000/- as promised by the Goa Government under Laadli Laxmi Scheme will be directly credited in the name of the Girl Beneficiary.
  • If the Annual Family Income of the Girl Beneficiary is more than Rs. 3,00,000/- in a year, then she is not eligible to get the assistance under Laadli Laxmi Scheme.
  • For a married girl beneficiary, it is mandatory to claim the money within 6 months of marriage.
  • No online application form Laadli Laxmi Scheme of the Goa Government is available yet.
  • Girl Beneficiary will have to fill the Offline Application Form of Laadli Laxmi Scheme and submit it to the District Office of Women and Child Development Department.
  • Girl Beneficiary can also contact the same District Office if any help or assistance is required regarding the Laadli Laxmi Scheme.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • Goa Government will provide the below-mentioned benefits to all eligible Girl Beneficiaries under its Laadli Laxmi Scheme :-
    • Rs. 1,00,000/- Monetary Assistance will be provided to Girl Beneficiaries.
    • Fixed Deposit of Rs. 1 Lakh will be created in the name of the Girl Beneficiary and the Director of the Women and Child Development Department.
    • Girl Beneficiary can claim this Amount after Marriage by submitting a Valid Marriage Certificate.
    • Unmarried Girls can also claim the Amount if she pursue Higher Studies or do Business.
    • Claims of the Laadli Laxmi Scheme will be entertained when the Girl Beneficiary is in the Age Group of 18 to 45 Years.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Rs. 1,00,000/- Financial Assistance under the Goa Government’s Laadli Laxmi Scheme will be provided to only those Girl Beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of scheme :-
    • Beneficiary Girl should be a Permanent Resident of Goa.
    • The Resident Period of the Girl Beneficiary in Goa should be a minimum of 15 Years.
    • Girl Beneficiary One Parents should be born in Goa and residents of Goa for the last 15 Years.
    • If the One Parent of the Girl Beneficiary has resided in Goa of the last 25 Years, then she is also eligible to apply.
    • The Family Annual Income should be less than Rs. 3,00,000/- in a Year.
    • Girl Beneficiary should be married, and the Age Group should be 18 Years to 45 Years.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • Girl Beneficiaries will have to mandatorily required to attach the below-mentioned documents as applicable along with the Application Form of Laadli Laxmi Scheme :-
    • Birth Certificate of Girl Beneficiary or Residence Proof of 15 Years.
    • 2 Passport Size Photographs.
    • Aadhar Card of Girl Beneficiary.
    • Duly Filled Self Declaration Form.
    • Certificate of Marriage. (Applicable only for Married Women)
    • Resident Certificate or Birth Certificate of any One Parent of the Girl.
    • Mobile Number and Email ID.
    • Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.
    • Certificate of Income of Parents.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Application Form of Laadli Laxmi Scheme of the Goa Government can be collected from the Women and Child Development Directorate, District Office.
  • Application Form is not available free of cost, Rs. 100/- will be charged from Girl Beneficiaries in lieu of the Laadli Laxmi Scheme Application Form.
  • Collect the Application Form, carefully fill it, and attach all the needed documents with the Application Form.
  • Application Form with documents attached will be submitted in the same District Office of the Women and Child Development Department.
  • Concerned Officials will accept the Laadli Laxmi Scheme, verify it, and provide an acknowledgement receipt to the Applicant.
  • Further scrutiny of application forms and documents will be done after that.
  • Officials will then prepare the Laadli Laxmi Scheme List of Beneficiaries selected for financial assistance.
  • List of Beneficiaries will be pasted on the notice board of the department and an SMS will also be sent to all selected beneficiaries of Laadli Laxmi Scheme.
  • When claimed, Financial Assistance as promised by the Goa Government under Laadli Laxmi Scheme will be transferred directly in the bank account of Girl Beneficiary.
  • Laadli Laxmi Scheme Application Status will also be checked by visiting the District Office of the Women and Child Development Department.
  • Claims under this Scheme will be entertained after the Girl Beneficiary gets married.
