Introduction of Jammu and Kashmir Ladli Beti Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Every State government will provide financial assistance for the birth of a Girl Child.
- The main aim behind this is to decrease the infant mortality rate and encourage parents to give education to girls.
- Government of Jammu and Kashmir is also running a scheme called Ladli Beti Scheme for the welfare of the Girl Child of the State.
- This scheme is called “J&K Bank Ladli Beti Deposit Scheme”.
- It was launched on the 1st of April 2015.
- The main objective behind launching the Ladli Beti Scheme is :-
- To Decrease the Infant Mortality Rate.
- To Stop the Early Marriage of Girl Child.
- To ensure that the Girl Child can complete their Basic Education.
- To Encourage Girls to Pursue Higher Education.
- Social Welfare Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Government is the nodal department of this scheme.
- A rough total of Rs. 6,50,000/- (Six Lakh Fifty Thousand Rupees Only) will be provided to the Girl Child after she attains the age of 21 years.
- The amount will be deposited in the name of Girl Child for 21 Years in 2 phases :-
- Phase 1st will of 14 Years, which starts from the Time of Birth of the Girl Child till she attains the age of 14 years.
- Phase 2nd will be of 7 Years, which starts after the 14 Years and ends when the Girl Child attains the age of 21 Years.
- In Phase 1st Government of Jammu and Kashmir will deposit a sum of Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand Rupees Only) in the name of Girl Child as a recurring deposit for 14 Years.
- The estimated amount after 14 years deposited in the name of the Girl Child will be Rs. 1,68,000/-. (One Lakh Sixty Thousand Rupees Only)
- The Government of Jammu and Kashmir will deposit this amount as a cumulative term deposit for another 7 years in the name of the Girl Child.
- The maturity period to claim the money under the Ladli Beti Scheme is 21 Years.
- Girl Child will receive Rs. 6,50,000/- as the claim amount under the Ladli Beti Scheme after the maturity period gets over.
- Before 21 Years of Age, a Girl Child is not eligible to claim the amount.
- The annual family income of the Girl Child from all sources should not be more than Rs. 75,000/- (Seventy Thousand Rupees Only)
- Applicants can apply for the Jammu and Kashmir Ladli Beti Scheme through Jansugam Portal of the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
- The whole process is online, the applicant does not have to submit any hard copy of any documents anywhere.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- The following benefits will be provided to Eligible Girl children of Jammu and Kashmir under the Jammu and Kashmir Ladli Beti Scheme :-
- Rs. 6,50,000/- will be given to the Girl Child when she attains the age of 21 Years. The Amount will be deposited in the form of :-
- Rs. 1,000/- per month will be deposited in the name of the Girl Child from her birth till she attains the age of 14 Years, which will accumulate a total of Rs. 1,68,000/-.
- Then this amount of Rs. 1,68,000/- will be deposited for 7 Years as a Cumulative Term Deposit.
- Then after 21 Years of maturity period, this amount will be estimated to be Rs. 6,50,000/-.
- The total tenure for the maturity of the amount is 21 Years.
- Rs. 6,50,000/- will be given to the Girl Child when she attains the age of 21 Years. The Amount will be deposited in the form of :-
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The following eligibility conditions is set by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to avail the benefit of the Ladli Beti Scheme :-
- Permanent Residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Birth of a Girl Child should be on or after 01-04-2015.
- Family’s Annual Income should not be more than Rs. 75,000/- (Seventy Five Thousand Rupees Only)
Documents Required to be Attached
- The following documents will be required to apply for the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s Ladli Beti Scheme :-
- Residence Proof Jammu and Kashmir.
- Aadhar Card of Girl Child.
- Birth Certificate of Girl Child.
- Aadhar Card of Girl Parents.
- Group Photograph of Parents with Girl Child.
- Mobile Number and Email ID.
- Bank Account Details.
- Income Certificate of Family.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Parents of a Girl Child can apply for the Ladli Beti Scheme of the Jammu and Kashmir Government online through Jansugam Portal.
- They have to Register themselves first by entering the following details :-
- Full Name.
- Email ID.
- Mobile Number.
- Enter Password of Applicant’s Choice.
- After successful registration Login on the same portal with your mobile number and password.
- Then choose Jammu and Kashmir Ladli Beti Scheme from the Apply for Services Tab.
- Fill the following details stepwise in the application form of the Ladli Beti Scheme :-
- Personal Details of Applicant.
- Details of Girl Child.
- Present and Permanent Address of Applicant.
- Bank Account Details.
- Upload the Required Documents.
- Preview the application form and click on submit button.
- After submission, the Application Form will be forwarded to the District Social Welfare Officer for verification.
- District Social Welfare Officer thoroughly verifies the Application Form along with the attached Documents.
- Then the Application Form will be forwarded to the District Commissioner for further approval.
- District Commissioner will then forward the accepted application form to the Department of Social Welfare of the Jammu and Kashmir Government for maintaining the account in the name of the parents of girl child.
- Parents of a Girl Child or Girl Child will receive the financial assistance once the Girl Child attains the age of 21 years.
- Applicant can also Track their Application of Ladli Beti Scheme by entering the application number on Jansugam Portal.
How to Claim the Maturity Amount
- Girls can only be eligible to claim the maturity amount of Rs. 6,50,000/- under the Ladli Beti Scheme when they complete the age of 21 Years.
- Once the Girl completes the age of 21 years, she can apply for a claim.
- Girl have to visit the District Office of the Department of Social Welfare and collect the Application Form of Claim for the Jammu and Kashmir Ladli Beti Scheme.
- Fill the Application Form correctly and attach all the required documents like: Aadhar Card, Birth Certificate, Residence Proof etc.
- Submit the Application Form along with all the documents to the same District Office of the Department of Social Welfare.
- District Social Welfare Officer then verifies the application form and documents thoroughly.
- After verification, the claim application form will then be forwarded to the District Commissioner for further approval.
- Then the District Commissioner will forward the application for final disbursal of the amount to the Director of Finance, Department of Social Welfare.
