Introduction of Madhya Pradesh Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana: A Brief Insight

• Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana was started by the Madhya Pradesh Government in the year 2012 in the month of June.
• The main objective behind starting this scheme is to fulfill the desires of senior citizens of the State to visit the famous and sacred religious places across India once in a life.
• Madhya Pradesh Government’s Directorate of Religious Trust and Endowment is the implementing agency of this scheme.
• Free visit to famous religious places across the country will be arranged by the Madhya Pradesh Government for senior citizens under its Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana.
• The journey to pilgrimage places will be concluded in Special Trains, Planes or in AC Buses.
• The government also arranges breakfast, food, and water during the journey.
• Apart from that, free accommodation will also be provided under the Madhya Pradesh Government Chief Minister Tirth Yatra Scheme.
• All expenses incurred during the whole journey will be borne by the Madhya Pradesh Government.
• Senior citizens don’t have to pay a single penny, the whole religious journey is free for them.
• Any interested person whose age is 60 or above, 58 years or above in case of women, can apply to visit a famous pilgrimage place.
• There will be no minimum or maximum age limit for those applicants who have disability of 60% or more.
• Applicants must be physically and medically fit to travel, and submitting a medical certificate at the time of application is required.
• The government also allows taking 1 attendant if the applicant’s age is 65 years or more.
• It is advisable to carry any identity proof, such asan  Aadhaar Card or a Voter Identity Card, and the following items with you during your journey to a religious place :-

• Madhya Pradesh Government or any agency is not responsible for any accident or bad thing that happens to the applicant during the journey.
• Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana Application Form can be collected free of cost from the office of the Tehsil, Collector or the Directorate of Religious Trust and Endowment District Office.
• Madhya Pradesh Government allocated the budget of Rs. 50/- Crore for the year 2025-2026 for smooth implementation of this scheme.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Free of Cost Visit to religious place will only be provided to those applicants who meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Madhya Pradesh Government’s Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana :-
  • Only Permanent Residents of Madhya Pradesh is Eligible to Apply.
  • The Age of the Applicant should be 60 years or more.
  • Maximum Age for Women applicants is 58 years or more.
  • No Age Limit for Disabled Applicants.
  • Applicant should not be an Income Tax Payee.
  • The applicant should not have availed the benefit of this scheme earlier.
  • Applicant should be medically and Physically Fit.
  • Attendant is Applicable for 65 years or more aged Applicant or 60% or more Disability.

• Applicant Old Age People of Madhya Pradesh can apply to travel free of cost to famous pilgrimage/ religious places across India under Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana through the Application Form.
• Madhya Pradesh Government’s Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana Application Form is available at any of the below mentioned government offices :-
  • Tehsil Office.
  • Collector Office.
  • District Office of Religious Trust and Endowment Directorate.
• Take the application form from any of the above-mentioned government offices and fill in every detail correctly.
• You have to attach all the required documents with the Application Form of Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana of the Madhya Pradesh Government.
• Application Form and all the documents will have to be submitted in the same government office from which the application form was collected.
• Concerned officials will verify the received application form and documents and make a list of eligible senior citizens.
• Final Approval will be given by the Collector of the respective District.
• Applicants will be selected through a lottery-based system and the waiting list will also be prepared.

What Not to Do During Travelling

• Senior citizens will have to be careful at the time of travelling to visit religious places. The following activities will be strictly prohibited during journey :-
  • Carrying an Inflammable Item or an Intoxicating Material is prohibited.
  • Do not take jewelry with you.
  • Be in Discipline.
  • Follow the Instructions of the Nodal Officer.
