Introduction of Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Every State Government of India will provide financial assistance at the time of birth of a girl child for their welfare.
- Same like the Government of Punjab also has a major welfare scheme named “Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme”.
- It was started in the year 2011.
- The main objective behind launching Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme is :-
- To Decrease the Infant Mortality Rate.
- To Stop the Fetus Killing of Girl Child in the Mother’s Womb.
- To help the Girl Child financially in her studies.
- To Encourage Girls to Pursue Higher Education.
- This scheme is also known as “ਬੇਬੇ ਨਾਨਕੀ ਲਾਡਲੀ ਬੇਟੀ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸਕੀਮ”.
- Punjab Government’s Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development is the Nodal Department of this scheme.
- Financial Assistance of Rs. 81,000/- will be provided to beneficiaries under Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme in different stages.
- Financial Assistance distributed under Punjab Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme in detail is as follows :-
- Rs. 20,000/- from Rs. 81,000/- will be fixed deposited by LIC in the name of girl child at the time of her birth.
- This amount of Rs. 20,000/- will be claimed only after the Girl has passed Class 12th and attained the age of 18 years.
- Remaining Amount of Rs. 61,000/- will be provided directly in the bank account of the beneficiary in different stages.
- Rs. 2,100/- will be provided to the parents at the time of birth of a girl child.
- Another Rs. 2,100/- will be provided to beneficiaries when the girl child attains the age of 3 years and is fully immunized with all vaccines.
- Rs. 2,100/- will again be given to beneficiaries when the girl child takes admission in Class 1st at the age of 6 years.
- Rs. 7,200/- at the rate of Rs. 100/- per month will be provided to the girl child from the date of taking admission in Class 1st till the date of passing Class 6th.
- Rs. 14,400/- at the rate of 200/- per month will be provided to the girl child from the date of taking admission in Class 7th till the date of passing Class 12th.
- Rs. 2,100/- will be provided when the girl child takes admission in Class 9th.
- And the final amount of Rs. 31,000/- will be provided to girl child when she passes class 12th and attains the age of 18 years.
- Only those Girl children are eligible to avail the financial assistance who are born after 1st January 2011.
- The financial assistance will stop immediately if girl child drops out of school for any possible reason.
- The Annual Family Income of the Girl Child Family should not be more than Rs. 30,000/-.
- Blue Card is necessary to avail the benefit of Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme as it works as an Income Certificate.
- Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for Financial Assistance under Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme by filling the Application Form available at the office of the District Program Officer.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- The following financial assistance will be provided by the Government of Punjab to the beneficiaries under Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme :-
- A Total of Rs. 81,000/- (Eighty Thousand Rupees Only) will be given to beneficiaries in different stages.
- Financial Assistance provided in different stages under Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme are as follows :-
Stage of Assistance Amount of Assistance At the Time of girl child’s Birth - Rs. 20,000/- will be Fixed Deposited by LIC in the Name of Girl Child.
- Rs. 2,100/- will be directly paid to the beneficiary.

- The following eligibility is required to avail the benefit of financial assistance under Bebe Nanki Laadli Beti Kalyan Scheme :-
- Girls Parents should be Permanent residents of Punjab.
- Girl Child should be born after 01.01.2011.
- Orphan Girls found abundant after 01.01.2011 are also eligible.
- The Annual Family Income of Girl Parents should not be more than Rs. 30,000/-.
- Family of a Girl Child should be a holder of a Blue Card.
