Introduction of Telangana Free Sewing Machine Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Telangana Government launched a prominent welfare scheme for women named “Free Sewing Machine Scheme”.
• This is the sub-scheme of “Indiramma Mahila Shakti Scheme” of the Telangana Government.
• The main objective of the government behind launching this scheme is to support the trained women beneficiaries of the state by providing them with machinery to start their own tailoring work.
• Telangana Government’s Minorities Finance Corporation is the implementing agency of this scheme.
• As the name already gave a hint, the government will provide free sewing machines to all eligible women beneficiaries age between 18 years to 55 years.
• Domestic Sewing Machines provided under the Free Sewing Machine Scheme of the Telangana Government is completely free of cost and no amount of money will be charged for them.
• However, this scheme is not for all women of Telangana State.
• Poor Girls, Divorced, Widows, Orphans, Destitute who are eligible, trained in tailoring and currently unemployed are only eligible to receive free domestic sewing machines under the scheme.
• Telangana Government also fixes the maximum annual family income criteria for women applicants, in which applicants from rural area should have an annual income of not more than Rs. 1.5 lakh and the applicant woman from an urban area should have an annual income of not more than Rs. 2 lakh.
• Interested and Eligible Women applicants can apply online for the Telangana Free Sewing Machine Scheme.
• The Online Application Form of the Free Sewing Machine Scheme is available on the Online Beneficiary Management and Monitoring System of the Government of Telangana.
• Women applicants can also apply for “Mahalakshmi Scheme” in which multiple benefits, including monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,500/-, free travel in buses and a gas cylinder at Rs. 500/- will be provided.
• Telangana Government also launched another welfare scheme for the minorities on 19-06-2025 named “Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana” and “Revanth Anna Ka Sahara Miskeeno Ke Liye Scheme”.
• Beneficiary Women can contact the District Minority Welfare Officer for any help regarding the Free Sewing Machine of the Telangana Government.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Women Beneficiaries belonging to the minority community will receive the following benefits from the Telangana Government under the Free Sewing Machine :-
  • A free-of-cost domestic Sewing Machine will be provided to selected women.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Financial Assistance of Rs. 50,000/- to set up a business will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana of the Government of Telangana :-
  

  Permanent Resident Women Applicants of Telangana are Eligible to Apply. The women applicant should belong to any one of the below-mentioned minority category :- Sikhs Buddhist Muslim Parsis Jains Women applicants should be Unemployed and their age should be between 18 years to 55 years. Passing minimum Class 5th is essentially required. Beneficiary Women Applicant should belong to any one category :- Poor Girls Divorcees Widows Destitute Orphans Beneficiary Women Applicant family annual income should be :- In Rural Areas :- Not More than Rs. 1.50 Lakh per year. In Urban Areas :- Not More than Rs. 2 Lakh per year. Women applicants trained in tailoring from a recognized institute are only eligible to apply.

• The following documents will have to be uploaded on the portal at the time of applying to receive a free sewing machine under the Government of Telangana’s Free Sewing Machine :-
  • Current Photograph.
  • Aadhaar Card of the Applicant Woman.
  • Minority Certificate.
  • Tailoring Certificate. (If Any)
  • Mobile Number.
  • Family Income Certificate.
  • Educational Qualification Proof.
  • Ration Card/ Food Security Card.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Women Beneficiaries of Telangana State can apply online to receive a Free Sewing Machine under the Government’s Free Sewing Machine Scheme through the Online Application Form.
• Telangana Free Sewing Machine Scheme Online Application Form is available on the Online Beneficiary Management and Monitoring System Portal.
• Visit the Online Beneficiary Management and Monitoring System Portal and click on “Apply Online for availing the Sewing Machines under Indiramma Mahila Shakti Scheme”.
  
• Free Sewing Machine Scheme Online Registration Form will appear on the screen of the applicant women beneficiary.
  
• Applicant Minority Women will have to fill in the personal details in the Online Application Form of the Free Sewing Machine of the Government of Telangana.
• Check all the filled information and upload all the required documents.
• Applicant Women will have to click on the submit button to submit the Free Sewing Machine Application Form.
• Submitted Application Form and Documents will be verified by the Officials of the Minorities Finance Corporation.
• Eligible and Selected Women Beneficiaries from the Minority Community will receive a Sewing Machine for self-employment under the Telangana Government’s Free Sewing Machine Scheme after successful verification.
