Introduction of MCH Kit Scheme: A Brief Insight

• MCH Kit Scheme is the major welfare scheme of Government of Telangana.
• It was started on 02.06.2017.
• Earlier this scheme is known by other name i.e “KCR Kit Scheme”. But after congress wins the assembly election of Telangana, it’s name changed to MCH Kit Scheme.
• The main aim behind launching MCH Kit Scheme in Telangana is to provide financial assistance to mother and her new born child so that they can fulfill their basic needs needed.
• Telangana Government’s MCH Kit Scheme also encourages mothers to give birth in government institutions instead of home so that they can be safe and basic healthcare will be provided to them.
• Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare of Government of Telangana is the nodal department of MCH Kit Scheme.
• Under MCH Kit Scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 12,000/- and Rs. 13,000/- will be provided at the time of birth of boy and girl child respectively.
• Apart from the financial assistance a MCH Kit is also be provided to mother and child which cost around thousands of rupees.
• The items in the kit contains, towel, diaper, oil, shampoo etc. which is enough for 3 months use.
• Financial Assistance under MCH Kit Scheme will be provided in 5 installments.
• All the pregnant women of Telangana State are eligible to avail the benefit of MCH Kit Scheme.
• Eligible beneficiaries can apply through Application Form with the help of their area’s ASHA or ANM worker.
• Beneficiary women can also apply for “KCR Nutrition Kit Scheme” in which free of cost nutrition kit will be provided.
• This scheme is also known by “MCH Kit Pathakam” name.
• In case of any assistance or help needed regarding this scheme, beneficiary women can contact their ASHA or Anganwadi Worker.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The following benefits or financial assistance will be provided by Telangana Government to mother under MCH Kit Scheme :-
  

  Rs. 12,000/- assistance at the time of boy birth. Rs. 13,000/- assistance if child is Girl. MCH Kit for both mother and child contains 16 necessary things cost around thousands.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility conditions is set by the Government of Telangana to avail the benefit of MCH Kit Scheme :-
  

  Women of Telangana State. Delivery of Mother should be in Government Hospital. Mother Should have Aadhar Card of Telangana. Benefits only available for Two Deliveries.

Ineligibility Conditions Set by Government

• In the following circumstances, the women are not eligible to avail the benefit of MCH Kit Scheme :-
  

  If Mother has Other State Aadhar Card. If the birth of a Child is in Private Hospital. If the benefit is availing for 3rd Children.

Distribution of Financial Assistance under MCH Kit Scheme

• Financial Assistance under MCH Kit Scheme will be provided in installments to mother.
• Financial Assistance under MCH Kit Scheme will be distributed are as follows:-
  

  Installment Amount	Phase of Installment
  Rs. 3,000/-	Within 5 Months from the Date of Last Menstrual Period. After 2 Anti Natal Checkups.
  Rs. 4,000/-	At the time of Boy’s Birth.
  Rs. 5,000/-	At the time of Girl’s Birth.
  Rs. 2,000/-	Within 3 Months of Child Birth. After 1st Immunization.
  Rs. 3,000/-	Within 9 Months of Child Birth. After 2nd Immunization.
  Total of Rs. 12,000/- at the time of Boy’s Birth. Total of Rs. 13,000/- at the time of Girl’s Birth.

  Soap for Mother and Child. Oil for Baby. Mosquito Net. Small Bed for Baby. Baby’s Dresses. Mother’s Sarees. Towels for Mother and Baby. Hand Bag for Mother. Napkins. Powder for Baby. Shampoo for Mother and Child. Diapers for Baby. Toys for Baby.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• The whole registration process under MCH Kit Scheme will be done through ASHA Workers.
• ASHA Worker collect the list of their area pregnant women and register themselves by uploading their details on MCH Kit Scheme Portal.
  
• It is the duty of the ASHA Worker to complete the ANC Check Ups of Pregnant Women.
• The Application Forms of MCH Kit Scheme will be subject to approval from Medical Officer.
• Once the application approved by the medical officer, it will be forwarded to Deputy District Health and Medical Officer for further approval.
• Then the finance department of Telangana State gave its final approval on the received application forms.
• According to installment stages, the financial assistance under MCH Kit Scheme will be transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.
