Introduction of Uttar Pradesh Panch Takht Yatra Yojana: A Brief Insight

• Uttar Pradesh Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji announced to launch of two new religiously important schemes.
• The first scheme is for Hindu/ Buddhist named “Bauddha Teerth Darshan Yojana”.
• And the second one is for Sikh residents of Uttar Pradesh named “Panch Takht Yatra Yojana”.
• In this article, we are going to talk about the Panch Takht Yatra Yojana of Uttar Pradesh for Sikhs.
• CM of UP on the 6th of July 2025 announced in a press conference to launch these two new schemes.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to fulfill the spiritual aspirations of sikh devotees to visit the most sacred religious places in sikhism known as the Panch Takht.
• This scheme will be implemented by the Department of Religious Affairs of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
• Government of Uttar Pradesh under its Panch Takht Yatra Yojana, will provide financial assistance in the form of a subsidy to ensure hassle-free travel to sacred religious places.
• Rs. 10,000/- per person will be payable under the Panch Takht Yatra Scheme of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
• Panch Takht includes Shri Akal Takht Sahib, Shri Takht Sachkhand Huzoor Sahib, Shri Anandpur Sahib, Shri Harminder Ji Sahib and Shri Damdama Sahib.
• Beneficiary Sikh devotee can choose any one of the panch takht and visit it by availing the subsidy of Rs. 10,000/- under Panch Takht Yatra Yojana.
• Uttar Pradesh Government will going to collaborate with the IRCTC of Indian Railway to arrange the travelling facility for devotees under Panch Takht Yatra Yojana.
• Right now, this is just an announcement and the concerned department will soon release the official guidelines of the scheme.
• Very soon, the application will be accepted under this scheme.
• It is hereby reminded that having a Family ID – Parivar Pehchan Patra is mandatorily required at the time of application.

Religious Place Eligible for Subsidy

• Subsidy under the Panch Takht Yatra Scheme of UP will only be provided on the travel to Panch Takht Sahib, which are mentioned below :-

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Uttar Pradesh Government under its newly announced Panch Takht Yatra Yojana will provide the following benefits to all eligible Sikh community people of the State :-
  

  Financial Assistance as a Subsidy will be provided to Sikh Pilgrims for sacred travel to religious places. Rs. 10,000/- will be provided for Panch Takht Sahib Religious Place Travel. Subsidy Amount will be Applicable on the following Religious Place Travel :- Shri Akal Takht Sahib Shri Anandpur Sahib Shri Damdama Sahib Shri Harminder Ji Sahib Shri Takht Sachkhand Huzoor Sahib

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Financial Assistance of Rs. 10,000/- as a subsidy on the religious travel to 5 sacred panch takhts will be provided to only those devotees who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Panch Takht Yatra Yojana of Government of Uttar Pradesh :-
  • Only Permanent Residents of Uttar Pradesh are Eligible to Apply.
  • Applicant should be belong to the Sikh Community.
  • Applicant should be medically, mentally and Physically Fit to travel.
  • Preference will be given to economically backward applicants.

Documents Required to be Attached

• Sikh Devotees will be required the following documents at the time of applying for the subsidy of Rs. 10,000/- under Uttar Pradesh Government’s Panch Takht Yatra Yojana :-
  • Family ID – Parivar Pahchan Patra.
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Voter Identity Card or Any Residence Proof of UP.
  • Mobile Number and Email.
  • Medical Certificate.
  • Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
  • Recent Color Passport Size Photograph.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji announced on 06-07-2025 to launch a new pilgrimage scheme for Sikh devotees named “Panch Takht Yatra Yojana”.
• He further announced that the mode of application of the Panch Takht Yatra Yojana will be online for transparency.
• Like other pilgrimage schemes of Uttar Pradesh, there will be a possibility that the Panch Takht Yatra Yojana online application forms will be submitted through the Department of Religious Affairs Official Portal.
• The respective department will soon draft the official guidelines of this scheme and release it.
• The application mode will only clear after the release of the guidelines.
• Sikh Devotees of Uttar Pradesh will have to wait a little bit more in order to avail the benefit of a subsidy of Rs. 10,000/- to travel famous sacred religious places of Sikhism known as Panch Takht.
