West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme

To support older people of West Bengal, the Government started the Old Age Pension in the year 2010. At present 1,000/- per month of financial assistance as an old age pension will be provided to all eligible people of the state. Introduction of West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight

• West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme is the major social development scheme of the West Bengal Government.
• It was launched in the year 2010.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide financial security to the elderly people of West Bengal.
• Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare of the West Bengal Government is the responsible department of the Old Age Pension Scheme.
• This scheme is also called “West Bengal Senior Citizen Financial Assistance Scheme” or “West Bengal Senior Citizen Pension Scheme”.
• Under the Old Age Pension Scheme, the Government of West Bengal will provide a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- to eligible old-age people/ senior citizens of West Bengal.
• Old Age People of West Bengal whose Age is 60 Years or More and residing in West Bengal for a minimum of 10 Years, are eligible to apply for the Old Age Pension of West Bengal.
• Monthly Income of an Old Age Pension Scheme Applicant should not be more than Rs. 1,000/- per Month.
• Eligible Applicant can apply for the Old Age Pension Scheme by filling out the Offline Application Form.
• There is no Online Application of the West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme available.
• Applicants can also check the Status of Old Age Pension Scheme Application by visiting the West Bengal Pension Scheme Portal.
• Eligible Applicant list of Old Age Pension will be available after verification at the office of the Block Development Officer.
• Applicant can submit their Grievance of Old Age Pension Scheme (if any) on the West Bengal Pension Scheme Portal.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The following financial assistance as a monthly pension will be provided to Eligible Senior citizens of West Bengal under the Old Age Pension Scheme :-
  

  Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand Rupees Only)

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month will be provided to only those applicants who fulfill the following eligibility conditions of the Government of West Bengal’s Old Age Pension Scheme :-
  

  Applicant Should be a Permanent Resident of West Bengal. OR Applicant Should be Residing in West Bengal for 10 Years. The Age of Applicant Should be :- 60 Years or More. 55 Years or More for Mentally or Physically Handicapped Old Age Applicant. The Monthly Income of the Applicant Should not be more than Rs. 1,000/- per Month. Applicant should not be a recipient of any other Government Financial Assistance.

• The following documents will be required at the time of applying for a monthly pension under the West Bengal Government’s Old Age Pension Scheme :-
  

  Any One Identity Proof of Applicant :- Voter Identity Card. PAN Card. Ration Card. Aadhar Card of Applicant. Applicant Annual Income Certificate. Bank Account Details.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Senior Citizen Applicant can apply for Old Age Pension by filling the Application Form of Old Age Pension Scheme of West Bengal Government
• Application Form of Old Age Pension Scheme is available free of cost at any of the following offices :-
  • Office of the Block Development Officer or the Panchayat Samiti. (In Rural Area).
  • Office of Sub-Divisional Officer. (In Urban Area).
• Collect the Application Form and fill it carefully.
• Attach all the required documents.
• Submit the Application Form of Old Age Pension Scheme along with all the documents to the same office.
• Application Form and Documents will be verified by the Block Development Officer or Sub Divisional Officer.
• After initial verification, the application of the old age pension scheme will be forwarded to the office of the District Magistrate for final approval.
• After final approval from the office of the District Magistrate, the monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- under the West Bengal Government’s Old Age Pension Scheme will be transferred monthly to the given bank account of the beneficiary.
• Applicant can also check the Status of their Old Age Pension Scheme Application by entering the Application ID.
• Contact the District Social Welfare Officer in case any help or assistance is required regarding Old Age Pension Scheme of the West Bengal Government.
