West Bengal Taruner Swapno Scheme

The Taruner Swapno Scheme was launched by the Government of West Bengal in 2021 to encourage students to integrate their studies with technology. The West Bengal Government supports students by providing them with financial assistance to purchase a smartphone or tablet. Financial Assistance of Rs. 10,000/- will be provided under the Taruner Swapno Scheme.

Introduction of West Bengal Taruner Swapno Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Government of West Bengal started the Taruner Swapno Scheme (तरुनेर स्वप्न योजना) in the year 2022.
• The main aim of the government behind starting this scheme is to encourage students to use technology in their studies.
• Education Department of West Bengal is the implementing department of this scheme.
• In general language, this scheme is well known by some other names also which is very important to mention here. Those names are “Taruner Swapno Prakalpa” or “Taruner Swapna Prakalpo” or “Taruner Swapno Prokolpo”.
• Government of West Bengal, through the Taruner Swapno Schem,e provides financial assistance to students to purchase a smartphone or tablet for their studies.
• Rs. 10,000/- will be provided through DBT to all eligible students under Taruner Swapno Prakalpa to purchase a tablet or smartphone.
• Earlier financial assistance under this scheme is only for the students of Class 12^th.
• But in the year 2024, the Government of West Bengal made an announcement and extended the benefit of this scheme and added class 11^th students also.
• So from now on, Class 11^th and Class 12^th students and ITI/ Polytechnic or any Undergraduate Course Students of West Bengal will get financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- under the Taruner Swapno Scheme to purchase a smartphone or tablet.
• Government of West Bengal had also allocated Rs. 900/- Crore for the year 2024-2025 for the smooth implementation of Taruner Swapno Scheme.
• If the annual family income of any student is more than Rs. 2 lakh per year, then he/ she is not eligible to avail the benefit of this scheme.
• According to the Government of West Bengal data, more than 9.7 lakh students gets the benefit of Taruner Swapno Scheme in the year 2023-2024, more than 16 lakh students in the year 2024-2025 and around 53 lakh total students will receive the benefits of this scheme.
• Students can directly apply for Government of West Bengal’s Taruner Swapno Scheme through its Official Portal.
• Rs. 10,000/- will directly come into the account of students after a successful verification process.
• Beneficiary Students can contact their school in case of any help or information needed for the Taruner Swapno Scheme.
• Students can also apply for the “Student Credit Card Scheme” of the West Bengal Government, in which they can avail themselves of subsidized loans for their studies.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The government of West Bengal will provide the following benefits to students of Class 11^th/Class 12^th/ ITI/ Polytechnic under the Taruner Swapno Scheme :-
  

  Financial Assistance to purchase a Tablet or Smartphone or PCs will be provided. Rs. 10,000/- will be provided to all students under Taruner Swapno Prakalpa.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Financial Assistance to purchase smartphones or tablets under the Taruner Swapno Scheme of the West Bengal Government will only be provided to those students who fulfil the following eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
  

  Only Students who are permanent residents of West Bengal are eligible to receive benefits. The beneficiary should be a Student of Class 11th or Class 12th or ITI or Polytechinc or any Undergraduate Course. The student’s Family Annual Income should be less than Rs. 2 Lakh per year. The beneficiary should be a Student of any of the following schools:- West Bengal Government Schools. West Bengal Government Aided Schools. West Bengal Government Recognized Madrasahs. West Bengal Government-Sponsored Schools.

Documents Required to be Attached

• Documents that are needed to be submitted by the students in their school to receive the financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- to purchase a smartphone or tablet under the Taruner Swapno Scheme are as follows :-
  • Aadhar Card of Student.
  • Mobile Number.
  • School Identity Card of a Student.
  • Student Bank Account Details.
  • Passport Size Photograph.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• West Bengal Government has a dedicated Portal of Taruner Swapno Scheme through which beneficiary students can apply to get financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- to purchase tablet or smartphone.
• Application is Open for Taruner Swapno Scheme for the year 2025.
• Open the Taruner Swapno Scheme Official Portal and Click on Apply Now.
  
• A login window will open in which applicant student will have to fill his/ her Student Code (Banglar Shiksha ID).
  
• Student Code will be verify by the Portal through OTP authentication which will be sent on registered mobile number.
• A pre filled Online Application Form of Taruner Swapno Scheme of West Bengal Government will appear on the screen of the beneficiary student.
• Review all the filled details and verify your Aadhaar Number with OTP.
• After verification, a welcome message will appear which said that you are eligible to receive financial assistance under Taruner Swapna Scheme of Government of West Bengal.
  
• Rs. 10,000/- financial assistance to purchase a smartphone or tablet as promised under Taruner Swapno Prakalpa will be transferred in the given bank account of students.
• Students will have to mandatorily submit the bill of purchase of a smartphone or tablet to the school which will be further forwarded to the education department.
