Introduction of Taruner Swapno Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Government of West Bengal started Taruner Swapno Scheme in the year 2022.
- The main aim of government behind starting this scheme is to encourage students to use technology in their studies.
- Education Department of West Bengal is the implementing department of this scheme.
- In general language this scheme is well known by some other names also which is very important to mention here. Those names are “Taruner Swapno Prakalpa” or “Taruner Swapna Prakalpo” or “Taruner Swapno Prokolpo”.
- Government of West Bengal through Taruner Swapno Scheme provides financial assistance to students to purchase smartphone or tablet for their studies.
- Rs. 10,000/- will be provided through DBT to all eligible students under Taruner Swapno Prakalpa to purchase tablet or smartphone.
- Earlier financial assistance under this scheme is only for the students of Class 12th.
- But in the year 2024, Government of West Bengal made an announcement and extend the benefit of this scheme and added class 11th students also.
- So from now on, Class 11th and Class 12th students of West Bengal will get financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- under Taruner Swapno Scheme to purchase smartphone or tablet.
- Government of West Bengal allocated Rs. 900/- Crore for the year 2024-2025 for the smooth implementation of Taruner Swapno Scheme.
- If the annual family income of students is more than Rs. 2 lakh per year then he/ she is not eligible to avail the benefit.
- According to Government of West Bengal data, more than 9.7 lakh students gets the benefit of Taruner Swapno Scheme in the financial year of 2023-2024.
- Students can not directly apply for Taruner Swapno Scheme nor there is any official website of this scheme is available.
- Concerned School will identify the eligible students, fill their forms on the Banglar Shiksha Portal and forward it for verification.
- Rs. 10,000/- will directly comes in the account of students after successful verification process.
- Beneficiary Students can contact their school in case of any help or information needed for Taruner Swapno Scheme.
Benefits Provided to Students Under Scheme
- The government of West Bengal will provide the following benefits to students of Class 11th and Class 12th under the Taruner Swapno Scheme:-
- Financial Assistance to Purchase a Tablet or Smartphone will be provided.
- Rs. 10,000/- will be provided to all students under Taruner Swapno Prakalpa.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Financial Assistance to purchase smartphones or tablet under Taruner Swapno Scheme of West Bengal Government will only provided to those students who fulfil the following eligibility conditions :-
- Only Students who are permanent residents of West Bengal are eligible to apply.
- The beneficiary should be a Student of Class 11th or Class 12.
- Student’s Family Annual Income should be less than Rs. 2 Lakh per year.
- Beneficiary should be a Student of any of the following schools:-
- West Bengal Government Schools.
- West Bengal Government Aided Schools.
- West Bengal Government Recognized Madrasahs.
- West Bengal Government Sponsored Schools.

- Documents that are needed to students at the time of applying for financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- to purchase smartphone or tablet under Taruner Swapno Scheme are as follows:-
- Aadhar Card of Student.
- School Identity Card of Student.
- Student Bank Account Details.
- Passport Size Photograph.
How Students Can Apply For Scheme Benefits
- There is no need to apply directly for Taruner Swapno Scheme of West Bengal Government.
- Concerned School of Students will make the list of students who are eligible for financial assistance to purchase smartphone or tablet.
- School Administration will fill the Online Application Form of Taruner Swapno Scheme on behalf of students.
- Banglar Shiksha Portal is designed to upload all the details of eligible students of class 11th and class 12th who are eligible for Taruner Swapno Prokolpo.
- Students will only need to submit the bank account details of theirs in the school.
- Education Department of West Bengal Government will scrutinized the received application forms of Taruner Swapno Scheme.
- List of Selected Students under Taruner Swapno Scheme will be forwarded to schools to be pasted on the notice board.
- Rs. 10,000/- financial assistance to purchase smartphone or tablet as promised under under Taruner Swapno Prakalpa will be transferred in the given bank account of students.
- Students will have to mandatorily submit the bill of purchased smartphone or tablet in the school which will be further forwarded to the education department.
