Introduction of Delhi Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Government of Delhi launched the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana on 9th of January 2018.
- The primary objective of the government in initiating this scheme is to fulfill the dream of elderly people in the NCT of Delhi to visit famous pilgrimage sites.
- This scheme is implemented by the Department of Revenue of the Delhi Government with the help of Tirath Yatra Vikas Samiti.
- People who are 60 years or more can now travel to more than 15 religious places across India free of cost under the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme of the Government of Delhi.
- Food, Accommodation, Travelling, Medical Emergencies and all types of expenses will be borne by the government.
- The mode of travelling under the Delhi Chief Minister Tirth Yatra Scheme will be through Indian Railways in a 3rd AC Coach or by AC Bus for nearby pilgrimage places.
- There is also a facility of taking an attendant with the devotee if the age of the devotee is more than 70 years.
- It is mandatory to submit a Medical Certificate, Self Declaration, and a Certificate from the Local MLA, Minister or the Chairman of Tirath Yatra Vikas Samiti at the time of applying for Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana.

- Devotees can visit 15 Religious Places across the country free of cost.
- Travelling will be arranged in 3 AC Coach or in AC Buses.
- Accommodation in AC Hotels.
- All the Expenses incurred on Accommodation, Food, and Travelling will be borne by the Government.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Benefit of Free of Cost visit to a famous religious place will only be provided to those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana of the Government of Delhi :-
- Permanent Residents of Delhi are Eligible to Apply.
- The Age ofthe Applicant should be 60 years or more.
- Applicant should not be an Employee or the Central or State Government or any Local/ Autonomous Body.
- Applicant or his/her Spouse should not have availed the benefits of this scheme earlier.
- The attendant will only be Applicable if the Applicant’s Age is 70 years or more.
- The attendant’s Age should be 21 years or more. (In case of being assisted by an attendant)
