Introduction of NeGD Technical Internship Programme: A Brief Insight

  • National e-Governance Division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology started a new internship scheme for students who belong to the technical field.
  • The name of the internship programme is “NeGD Technical Internship Programme”.
  • The main aim of the government behind starting this technical internship scheme is to provide real world and professional environment to students from the technical field so that they can gain some practical experience.
  • Technical Internship Programme will be implemented by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in collaboration with its independent National e-Governance Division.
  • 6 months internship will be provided to selected interns under the NeGD Internship Programme along with a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month.
  • In that 6-month period of internship, selected intern students work on live projects under the mentorship of experienced professionals and learn problem-solving skills.
  • As this is specifically a technical internship programme, so only engineering graduates and post-graduates are eligible to apply for a 6-month internship under the NeGD Technical Internship Programme.
  • If any student has less than 75% marks in their qualifying degree, then they are not eligible to apply for this internship programme.
  • Technical internship will only be offered to those students who passed their qualifying exams in the year 2024 or 2025 or will going to be passed in the year 2026.
  • Government will conduct the NeGD Technical Internship Program twice every year, known as the January Session and the July Session.
  • The last date to apply for an internship for the July Session is 15th of July 2025.
  • It is an offline internship programme in which selected interns will have to join the NeGD Headquarters and work daily during working hours.
  • Interns will receive the Certificate of Internship after successful completion of the internship, which is subject to certification by their mentor.
  • Applicants can also go through with other internship schemes of the Ministry of Electronics and Technology, which are the “Digital India Internship Scheme”.

  • Central Government also provided internship opportunities to youth under “”Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme” in which 12-month internship with a monthly stipend will be provided to selected interns.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • 6 months technical internship with a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month will be provided to only those applicants who meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the NeGD Technical Internship Programme of the Ministry of Electronics and Technology :-
    • Indian Citizens are only Eligible.
    • Applicant should be an Engineering Graduate or Post Graduate or Equivalent.
    • Applicant should have a minimum of 75% marks in their Qualifying Examination.
    • Applicant who passed their qualifying examination in the years 2024 and 2025 are eligible to apply.
    • Applicants whose degree will going to be completed in the year 2026 can also apply for an internship.

Interns Selection Process

  • Officials will shortlist the interns for the internship based on their marks in the qualifying degree.
  • Shortlisted applicants will then be called for an interview.
  • The selection panel will give weightage to those students who have done relevant certification courses.
  • Panel will also give weightage to those students who passed out from the top 100 colleges per year as per the ranking given by the National Institute Ranking Framework.
  • The following members are in the selection committee that selects interns for internships under the NeGD Technical Internship Programme :-

  • After the final selection, the selection committee will present its recommendation to the President and CEO of National e-Governance Division for final decision.
