  • Uttar Pradesh Government runs lots of schemes for the benefit of women of the State.
  • One of the prominent welfare schemes which is started for the unorganised sector is “Matritva Shishu Evam Balika Madad Yojana”.
  • The main objective of the UP Government behind starting this scheme is to provide financial support to the female construction workers (nirman shramik) from the time of pregnancy till the child attains maturity.

    • Rs. 20,000/- will be provided if a newborn child is a boy.
    • Rs. 25,000/- will be provided if a newborn child is a girl.
  • 3rd and last pillar of this scheme is “Balika” which means a girl and the below mentioned benefits will be provided if the newborn child is a girl :-
    • UP Government make a fixed deposit in the name of the girl child.
    • Rs. 25,000/- will be fixed deposited at the time of birth of a first girl child.
    • Same amount will also be fixed deposited if the second child is also girl.
    • Rs. 50,000/- will be fixed deposited if the newborn girl child is physically handicapped.
  • Till date, more than 6,22,974 beneficiaries have received the benefit of Uttar Pradesh Government’s Matritva Shishu Evam Balika Madad Yojana.
  • Only those construction workers are eligible to avail the benefits of उत्तर प्रदेश मातृत्व, शिशु एवं बालिका मदद योजना who are registered for a minimum of 1 year in the construction board.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • Government of Uttar Pradesh will provide the following benefits to all registered construction workers (nirman shramik) under its Matritva Shishu Evam Balika Madad Yojana :-
    • Financial Assistance of Rs. 6,000/- to the Wife of a Registered Male Construction Worker after delivery of birth of a child.
    • Financial assistance equivalent to 3 months of wages will be provided to a Registered Female Construction Worker.
    • Medical Bonus of Rs. 1,000/- will also be provided to Registered Female Construction Worker.
    • 6 Weeks of wages will be provided to a female construction worker in case of miscarriage.
    • One Time Financial Assistance of Rs. 20,000/- in case of birth of a boy child.
    • One Time Financial Assistance of Rs. 25,000/- in case of birth of a girl child.
    • Rs. 25,000/- as Fixed Deposit for First or Second Daughter birth.
    • Fixed Deposit will mature when the beneficiary attains the age of 18 years.
    • If girl born is handicapped, then the fixed deposit amount is Rs. 50,000/-.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • The benefits of Matritva Shishu Evam Balika Madad Yojana will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the following eligibility criteria of scheme :-
    • Permanent Resident and Registered Construction Workers (Nirman Shramik) are Eligible.
    • Registration of a Worker at the B&OCWW Board should be a minimum 1 year (365 days) Old.
    • Beneficiary will be provided only for the Institutional/ Hospital Delivery of a Child.
    • Scheme Benefits will be applicable for the first 2 births of a child.
    • The age of a registered female construction worker or the wife of a male construction worker should be above 18 years.
    • The application will be submitted within 1 year of the birth of a child.
