Introduction of Telangana Mahalakshmi Scheme: A Brief Insight

• At the time of the assembly election in the year 2023, the Congress Party announced lots of welfare schemes for the benefit of people.
• Some of the major announcements of the Congress Party for the people of Telangana are “Mahalakshmi Scheme”, “Indiramma Indlu Housing Scheme”, “Cheyutha Pension Scheme” and “Gruha Jyothi Scheme”.
• After winning the election, every single scheme has been implemented by the Congress Party in Telangana.
• One of the major schemes that has been implemented for the welfare of women is the “Mahalakshmi Scheme”.
• Women Development and Child Welfare Department is the responsible department for this scheme.
• Mahalakshmi Scheme of Telangana Government is the combination of 3 different schemes, which are given below :-
  • “Mahalakshmi Financial Assistance Scheme”.
  • “Mahalakshmi LPG Gas Cylinder Subsidy Scheme”.
  • “Mahalakshmi Free Bus Travel Scheme”.
• The main objective behind starting the Mahalakshmi Scheme is to make women of Telangana financially self-reliant.
• The government will provide monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,500/- to all eligible women beneficiaries so that they can easily manage their day care expenses.
• Apart from that, One Domestic LPG Gas Cylinder per month will also be provided to women beneficiaries at the rate of Rs. 500/- on subsidy.
• And women beneficiaries can also travel free of cost in any Pallevelugu and Express Buses of Telangana State Road Transportation Corporation within the state boundary of Telangana.
• A valid identity proof, such as an Aadhaar Card, is only required at the time of travelling in buses.
• BPL Ration Card for financial assistance and a Valid Domestic LPG Gas Connection for Gas Subsidy are required mandatorily under the Mahalakshmi Scheme of the Telangana Government.
• Women Beneficiaries can apply for the Mahalakshmi Scheme and avail the benefit of monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,500/-, a Gas Cylinder at Rs. 500/-, and free of cost travel in buses.
• Till date, women beneficiaries have crossed the 200 crore mark of free bus rides under the Mahalakshmi Scheme of the Telangana Govt.
• Application Form is available free of cost in the Gram Panchayat/ Sabha or Municipal Corporation Office.
• The Mahalaxmi Scheme Application Form can also be submitted through Praja Palana Kendram.
• The Government of Telangana didn’t launch any Website for the Mahalakshmi Scheme, so do not fall for any fraud.
• Women Beneficiaries who belong to minority community can apply for “Free Sewing Machine Scheme” in which a free sewing machine will be provided to eligible women and “Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana” in which an assistance of Rs. 50,000/- will be provided to start their own business.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Women Beneficiaries

• Women Beneficiaries will get the following benefits from the Telangana Government under the Mahalakshmi Scheme :-
  • Eligible Women will get a Monthly Rs. 2,500/- Financial Assistance.
  • LPG Gas Cylinder will be provided at a subsidised rate of Rs. 500/- per Cylinder per Month.
  • Women Beneficiaries will Travel Free of Cost within the State Boundary in Pallevelugu and Express Buses.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Benefits under the Mahalakshmi Scheme of the Government of Telangana will only be provided to those women beneficiaries who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility conditions of the scheme :-
  • Only Permanent Resident Women Beneficiaries of Telangana are Eligible to Apply.
  • For the Gas Subsidy, there should be a Valid LPG Domestic Gas Connection at the Women’s House.
  • Women Beneficiaries should have a BPL or Antyodaya Ration Card.
  • Women, Girls and Transgender Beneficiaries can Travel Free of Cost by showing a Valid Identity Card or Aadhaar Card.
  • The Annual Family Income of the women beneficiary should not be more than Rs. 2 lakh.

Documents Required to be Attached

• Women Beneficiaries will have to attach the below-mentioned documents with the Application Form of the Mahalakshmi Scheme :-
  • Domicile of Telangana or Any Residence Proof.
  • Aadhar Card of Women.
  • BPL Ration Card.
  • Passport Size Photo of the Women Beneficiary.
  • Family Income Certificate.
  • Receipt of Domestic LPG Gas Connection.
  • Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.

How Beneficiaries Can Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Women Beneficiaries can apply to avail the benefit of the Maha Lakshmi Scheme of the Telangana Government through the following ways :-
  • Through Praja Palana Kendram.
  • Through the Offline Application Form.

Online Application Process to Apply

• Application of Mahalakshmi Pathakam can also be submitted online through Praja Palana Centres/ Kendras.
• Visit your nearest Praja Palana Centre, which is generally situated at the MPDO (Mandal Parishad Development Officer) Office, with all your documents.
• Officials present there will fill out the Online Application Form of the Mahalakshmi Scheme on behalf of the women beneficiary.
• A scanned copy of the documents will be uploaded by the officials on the Praja Palana Portal.
• An acknowledgement slip will be provided to the women beneficiaries after successful submission of the application form of the Mahalaxmi Scheme of Telangana.
• Beneficiary Women can also check their Application Status of the Mahalakshmi Scheme with the help of their application number.
  

Offline Application Process to Apply

• There is a common Application Form of the Mahalakshmi Scheme of the Telangana Government through which women can apply and avail the benefit of all 3 schemes.
• Beneficiary Women can collect the Application Form from any of the following offices :-
  • Gram Panchayat/ Sabha Office.
  • Municipal Corporation Office.
  • Mandal Revenue Office.
  • District Office of Women’s Development and Child Welfare.
• Or Women Beneficiaries can also Download the Application Form from our Website.
• Collect the Mahalakshmi Scheme Application Form and fill in the personal, contact and bank account details carefully.
• Documents will also have to be attached to the Application Form.
• Review the filled details and submit the Application Form along with documents to the same office from which the form was collected.
• Mahalakshmi Scheme Application Form can also be submitted at Praja Palana Kendram at the MPDO Office.
• Officials will verify the received application forms of the Mahalakshmi Scheme.
• Eligible Women Beneficiaries will be sorted out, and an SMS will be sent to them regarding the approval of the application form.
• Application Status of the Mahalakshmi Scheme can also be checked by visiting the Gram Panchayat/ Sabha Office.
• Beneficiaries selected under the Mahalakshmi Scheme of the Telangana Government will get financial assistance of Rs. 2,500/-, LPG Gas Cylinder at Rs. 500/- and Free travel in Telangana State Road Transportation Buses.
