Introduction of Delhi Old Age Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight

• At Old Age, people will depend on their family for many things.
• They can’t even manage their personal financial expenses.
• To help those elderly people financially, the Government of Delhi has taken a major step by launching a monthly pension scheme.
• This scheme will be known as the Old Age Pension Scheme of the Delhi Government.
• The main objective behind launching the Old Age Pension Scheme is to make old-age people financially independent.
• This will make older people not rely on their family members for financial assistance.
• Delhi Government’s Department of Social Welfare is the implementing department of this scheme.
• A monthly pension will be provided to eligible beneficiaries under this Old Age Pension Scheme.

• Applicant should be a permanent resident of Delhi or should be a resident of Delhi for a minimum of 5 Years.
• Those Applicant are eligible to apply whose annual family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 1,00,000/-.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The following Monthly Pension will be provided to Eligible Old Age People of Delhi under the Old Age Pension Scheme :-
  

  Monthly Pension	Applicant Category
  Rs. 2,500/-	Applicant Aged Between 60 and 69 Years.
  Rs. 3,000/-	Applicant Aged 70 Years or Above.
  Rs. 500/- per month will be additionally given to the Schedule Caste, Schedule Category and Minority Applicants.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility conditions are set by the Delhi Government in order to provide the benefit of monthly financial assistance in the form of pension under the Old Age Pension Scheme :-
  • Permanent Residents of Delhi are Eligible to apply OR,

• The only way to apply for the Delhi Government’s Old Age Pension Scheme is through E District Portal of the Delhi Government.
• Applicant has to Register himself first before applying for the Old Age Pension.
