Introduction of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme (KMUT): A Brief Insight

• Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme is the major welfare scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government.
• It was launched on the 15^th of September on the birth anniversary of Sh. Perarignar Anna.
• Sh. Perarignar Anna was an eminent scholar and the great son of Tamil Nadu.
• Department of Social Welfare & Women Empowerment of the Tamil Nadu Government is the nodal department of this Scheme.
• This scheme is the financial assistance scheme in which the Government of Tamil Nadu will provide monthly financial assistance to eligible women beneficiaries of Tamil Nadu
• The main aim of the Tamil Nadu Government behind launching this scheme is to make women of Tamil Nadu financially independent.
• Monthly Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand Rupees Only) will be provided by the Tamil Nadu Government to all eligible women beneficiaries.
• This scheme is also called “Tamil Nadu Women Financial Assistance Scheme” or “Magalir Urimai Thittam”.
• Only below mentioned Women Head of Household are eligible for the monthly financial assistance :-
  • Married Women.
  • Destitute Women.
  • Divorcee Women.
• Only those women beneficiaries are eligible for monthly financial assistance under this Scheme whose age is more than 21 years.
• Those women are not eligible whose family’s yearly electricity consumption is more than 3,600 units per year.
• Also, if the woman beneficiary’s family land holding is more than 5 acres of wetland or more than 10 acres of dry lan,d then she is not eligible for monthly assistance.
• Eligible Women Beneficiaries can apply for the Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government by filling out the Application Form.
• Application Form is available at any Fair Price/ Ration Shop.
• Tamil Nadu Government started the 2.0 version of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme (KMUT) in the state, in which an additional 17 lakh women will be added.
• Eligible Families can also avail the benefit of “Pongal Gift Hamper Scheme” of the Tamil Nadu Government.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The below-mentioned benefits will be provided to Women Beneficiary of Tamil Nadu under Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme :-
  

  Monetary Assistance per Month will be provided for support. Rs. 1,000/- per Month will be provided to Eligible Women Beneficiary.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility conditions is set by Tamil Nadu Government in order to avail the benefit of financial assistance under Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme :-
  

  Beneficiary should be a Permanent Resident of Tamil Nadu. Beneficiary should be a Women and Head of Household. Beneficiary Women Age should be more than 21 Years. Beneficary Women house electricity consumption should be less than 3,600 Units per Year. Beneficiary Women’s Family should have a Land Holding of not more than 5 acre of wet land or not more than 10 acre of dry land. Only Below Mentioned Women are Eligible for Financial Assistance :- Married Women. Destitute Women. Divorcee Women.

• The following documents is required to be submitted in order to avail the benefit of Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme (KMUT) of Tamil Nadu Government :-
  

  Domicile or Any Proof of Residence of Tamil Nadu. Aadhar Card of Women. Ration Card of Family. Family Income Certificate. Women Bank Account Details. Photograph of Women Beneficiary. Mobile Number.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Beneficiary can apply for monthly financial assistance under Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme by visiting the nearest Ration/ Fair Price Shop.
• Registration Form is available on the Ration Shops.
• Take the Registration Form and fill it.
• Attach all the documents mentioned in it.
• Submit the Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme Registration Form along with all the documents at the same Ration Shop.
• Volunteers present at Ration Shop will collect the registration form and then forward it to the concerned department for verification.
• Beneficiary can check the Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme Application Status Here.
