Introduction of Orunodoi Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Women face financial crunch every day for regular households item.
  • They have to depend on earning member of a family.
  • Government of Assam take a major step to remove the dependency and to make women of Assam independent.
  • Assam Government starts a major welfare scheme called Assam Orunodoi Scheme.
  • It was started on October 2nd 2020.
  • The main aim behind launching this scheme is to make Women of Assam Financially Independent and Empower them Financially.
  • Assam Department of Finance is the nodal department of Orunodoi Scheme.
  • Assam Orunodoi Scheme is also known as “Assam Arunodoi Scheme” or “Arunodoi Scheme” or “Assam Arunodoi Achoni”.
  • Government of Assam will provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,250/- (One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Rupees Only) to the eligible women of state.
  • Initially, the financial assistance under Orunodoi Scheme is Rs. 830/- (Eight Hundred Thirty Rupees Only).
  • At that time Rs. 830/- was meant to be spent by the beneficiary in the following way :-
    • Rs. 400/- for Medicines.
    • Rs. 200/- for Pulses.
    • Rs. 80/- for Sugar.
    • Rs. 150/- for Fruits and Vegetables.
  • But Rs. 830/- was not enough for the Women to spent as the household items are going to expensive day by day.
  • So Government of Assam then revised this amount in the year 2022 and make it Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand Rupees Only) per month for all the beneficiaries.
  • And again in the year 2023 Government of Assam revised this financial assistance per month to Rs. 1,250/- (Rs. One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Rupees Only) for all the women beneficiaries.
  • After revision of the financial assistance, Assam Orunodoi Scheme will be called as Assam Orunodoi Scheme 2.0.
  • Now after refining the eligibility criteria of scheme, Assam Government launched Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 in the State.
  • More than 37.2 Lakh Families of Assam will be estimated to get benefit under Orunodoi Scheme.
  • Beneficiaries can receive monthly financial assistance directly into the bank account of beneficiary.
  • Having a one female member in a family is mandatory to avail the benefit of Assam Orunodoi Scheme.
  • Preference will be given to those families who have any of the following categories of Women :-
    • Widow.
    • Divorcee.
    • Unmarried.
    • Separated from Husband.
    • Disabled.
    • Family of a Women covered under National Food Security Act.
  • Eligible Women of Assam can apply for monthly financial assistance under Assam Orunodoi Scheme through Application Form of Orunodoi Scheme.

  • The following Monthly Financial Assistance will be provided to Eligible Women of Assam under Orunodoi Scheme :-
    • Rs. 1,250/- (One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Only) Per Month.

Orunodoi Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • The below mentioned eligibility is required to avail the benefit of monthly financial assistance under Orunodoi Scheme :-
    • Only Permanent Residents of Assam are Eligible to Apply.
    • Applicant should be a Woman of State of Assam.
    • Applicant’s Annual Family Income should not be more than Rs. 2,00,000/-.
    • Applicant must have Bank Account in her Name.

Orunodoi Scheme Assam Ineligibility Criteria

Ineligibility Conditions of Scheme

  • The following ineligibility conditions is set by Government of Assam for Orunodoi Scheme in which if there are following people in a family or a family fulfills any of the following conditions then they are not eligible to apply :-
    • If there is no Female Member in a Family.
    • If any Family Member is a Serving or Retired Member of :-
      • Parliament.
      • State Legislative Assembly/ Council.
      • Panchayati Raj Institution.
      • Urban Local Body.
    • If any Family Member is a Serving or Retired Employee of :-
      • Central Government.
      • State Government.
      • Public Sector Undertaking.
      • Central or State Aided Institution.
      • Cooperative Societies.
    • If any Family Member is a Professional like :-
      • Doctor.
      • Engineer.
      • Chartered Accountant.
      • Advocate.
      • Government Contractor.
      • Architect.
    • If any Family Member is a Income Tax Payer.
    • Family holding more than 15 Bighas of Agricultural Land.
    • If Family owns any of the following Household Items :-
      • Four Wheeler.
      • Tractor.
      • Refrigerator.
      • Washing Machine.
      • Air Conditioner.
      • Mechanized Boat.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • The below mentioned documents will be required in order to avail the benefit of monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,250/- under Orunodoi Scheme of Assam Government :-
    • Residence Proof of Assam or Domicile Certificate.
    • Family Income Certificate.
    • Aadhar Card of Applicant.
    • Bank Account Details.
    • Applicant Caste Certificate.
    • BPL Card. (If Available)

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Eligible Women of Assam can apply for monthly financial assistance under Orunodoi Scheme through Application Form of Orunodoi Scheme.
  • Orunodoi Scheme Application Form will be available free of cost from the following offices :-
    • Office of the Urban Local Body.
    • Office of the Gram Panchayat.
  • Fill the Application Form correctly with below mentioned details :-
    • Applicant Details.
    • Contact Details.
    • Details of Family.
    • Bank Account Details.
  • Attach all the required documents with the application form.
  • Submit the Application Form with all the documents attached in the below mentioned office :-
    • Urban Local Body Office.
    • Gram Panchayat Office.
  • Application Form and documents will be scrutinized by the concerned officials.
  • If the application of the beneficiary will accepted then the monthly financial assistance will be transferred every month in the given bank account number.
  • Applicant can also track the Application Status of Orunodoi Scheme by entering the Beneficiary Number in the portal.

  • Financial Assistance under Orunodoi Scheme will be transferred on the 1st Date of month.
  • To implement Orunodoi Scheme properly in the Assam, Orunodoi Assistants will be recruited by the Government.
  • Finalization of Eligible Beneficiary will be done District Level Committee which comprises following members :-
    • Deputy Commissioner is the Chairperson of the Committee.
    • All the MLAs of the District is a Member of Committee.
    • Secretary of the Committee is District Development Commissioner.
    • ADC Development and Zila Parishad CEO is also the Member of the Committee.
