The Orunodoi or Arunodoi Scheme was started by the Assam Government to financially support the women of the State. Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,250/- per month will be provided to all eligible women under the 3rd version of the Orunodoi Scheme.

Introduction of Assam Orunodoi Scheme 3.0: A Brief Insight

• Women face a financial crunch every day for regular household items.
• They have to depend on the earning member of a family.
• The government of Assam takes a major step to reduce dependency and empower women in Assam.
• Assam Government starts a major welfare scheme called the Assam Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• It was started on October 2nd, 2020.
• The main aim behind launching this scheme is to make Women of Assam Financially Independent and empower them financially.
• Assam Department of Finance is the nodal department of the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• Assam Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 is also popularly known as “Arunodoi Scheme” or “Arunodoi Achoni”.
• The Government of Assam will provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,250 to eligible women in the state.
• Initially, the financial assistance under the Orunodoi Scheme was Rs. 830/-.
• But Rs. 830/- was not enough for the Women to spend as the household items are getting too expensive day by day.
• So Government of Assam then revised this amount in the year 2022 and made it Rs. 1,000/- per month for all the beneficiaries.
• And again in the year 2023 Government of Assam revised this financial assistance per month to Rs. 1,250/- for all the women beneficiaries.
• After revision of the financial assistance, Assam Orunodoi Scheme will be called Assam Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• Now, after refining the eligibility criteria of the scheme, the Assam Government launched Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 in the State on 08-10-2025
• More than 38 Lakh Families of Assam will be estimated to get benefits under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• Beneficiaries can receive monthly financial assistance directly into their bank account of the beneficiary.
• Having a female member in a family is mandatory to avail the benefit of the Assam Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• Preference in selection will be given to those families who have any of the following categories of Women :-
  • Widow.
  • Divorcee.
  • Unmarried.
  • Separated from Husband.
  • Disabled.
  • The family of a woman covered under the National Food Security Act.
• Eligible Women of Assam can apply for monthly financial assistance under the Assam Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 through the Application Form of Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• Assam Government disbursed over Rs. 410 Crore directly in the bank account of more than 38 lakh women beneficiaries under Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• Women Beneficiaries received their first installment of Orunodoi 3.0 in their bank account and shared the screenshot with CM of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma.
• Women applicants can explore other major welfare schemes of the Assam Government for women, named “Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan” and “Arundhati Gold Scheme”.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Eligible Women Beneficiaries will get the following benefits from the Assam Government under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 :-
  

  Monthly Financial Assistance to Eligible Women will be provided. Woman Beneficiaries will receive Rs. 1,250/- Per Month.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The below-mentioned eligibility is required to be completed to avail the benefit of the monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,250/- under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 of the Government of Assam :-
  

  Only Permanent Resident Women of Assam are Eligible to Apply. Applicant’s age should be 18 years or more. In the case of unmarried women, the age should be more than 45 years. Applicant’s Annual Family Income should not be more than Rs. 2,00,000/-. Applicant must have a Bank Account in her Name.

Type of Women Eligible for Financial Assistance

• Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,250/- under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 of the Assam Government is not available for all categories of women.
• Assam Government provides a dedicated list of categories of women who are eligible to avail the benefit of the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0.
• The following are the eligible categories of women eligible to avail the benefit of Assam Government’s Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 :-
  

  Married. Widow. Unmarried. (Age above 45 years) Divorced. Deserted. Transgender. Women with Disability. Old Women living in Old Age Homes. Women’s household member is disabled or aged. Women’s household members have patients of HIV, Thalassemia, Hemophilia, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy, Autism Spectrum Disorder etc. A Woman without Shelter. Destitute Women living in Alms. Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Beneficiary Women. Women whose aggregate family income is less than Rs. 2 lakh per year.

Ineligibility Conditions of the Scheme

• The following ineligibility conditions are set by the Government of Assam for Orunodoi Scheme 3.0, in which if there are the following people in a family or a family fulfills any of the following conditions, then they are not eligible to apply :-
  

  If there is no Female Member in a Family. If any Family Member is a Serving or Retired Member of :- Parliament. State Legislative Assembly/ Council. Panchayati Raj Institution. Urban Local Body. If any Family Member is a Serving or Retired Employee of :- Central Government. State Government. Public Sector Undertaking. Central or State Aided Institution. Cooperative Societies. If any Family Member is a Professional like :- Doctor. Engineer. Chartered Accountant. Advocate. Government Contractor. Architect. Teacher. If any Family Member is an Income Tax Payer. Family holding more than 15 Bighas of Agricultural Land. If the Family owns any of the following Household Items :- Four Wheeler. Tractor. Refrigerator. Washing Machine. Air Conditioner. Mechanized Boat.

Documents Required to be Attached

• The documents mentioned below will be required to avail the benefit of the monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,250/- under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 of the Assam Government :-
  

  Residence Proof of Assam or Domicile Certificate. Family Income Certificate. Aadhar Card of Applicant. Bank Account Details. Applicant’s Caste Certificate. BPL Card. (If Available)

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Women of Assam can apply for a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,250/- under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 through an Offline Application Form.
• Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 Application Form is available free of cost in the following government offices :-
  • Office of the Urban Local Body.
  • Office of the Gram Panchayat.
• Take the Application Form and fill it correctly with the details :-
  • Applicant Details.
  • Contact Details.
  • Details of Family.
  • Bank Account Details.
• Applicant women will have to attach all the required documents to the application form.
• Submit the Arunodoi Scheme Application Form with all the documents attached to the office from where the application form was collected.
• Application Form and documents will be scrutinized by the concerned officials and the committee.
• Selected Women Beneficiaries will receive the financial assistance of Rs. 1,250/- directly in their bank account under Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 of the Assam Government.
• Application Status of the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 can be checked by contacting the District Social Welfare Officer.

Key Features of the Scheme

• Assam Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 is the Poverty Alleviation Scheme of the Government of Assam.
• Financial Assistance under the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 will be transferred on the 10th day of the month.
• To implement the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0 properly in Assam, Orunodoi Assistants will be recruited by the Government.
• Finalization of the Eligible Beneficiary will be done District Level Committee, which comprises the following members :-
  • Deputy Commissioner is the Chairperson of the Committee.
  • All the MLAs of the District is a members of the Committee.
  • Secretary of the Committee is the District Development Commissioner.
  • ADC Development and Zila Parishad CEO is also a Member of the Committee.
